I posted this in Vets a couple of weeks ago and got some lovely support and replies, however I am still concerned about Motor's new 'posture and position' to spend his pennies

. I am therefore wondering, if any others of you, with older boys, may have noticed this sort of change in behaviour?

I noticed that when Motor spends a penny, he does not bother to stretch out and just stands normally and happily 'goes'. No straining or looking uncomfortable, but just very odd ...

He is as happy as larry at the moment, very interested in life, food, excerise and cuddles

.... so what is this all about

I half wondered if he is a bit stiffer behind (no puns here please

) but he is not even stretching his front legs out either

Any ideas, or do you think he has just gone a bit cranky(er)

Thinking about it I don't think the Old Codger (only 20 but he responds to old codger now

) stretches forward or spreads his back legs when he pees. But he does still think he is a stallion so gets it out on every occasion
crazy.gif
. He never seems to have a problem peeing. He is a bit stiff behind though, he is an ex eventer so his joints have taken a fair old battering over the years.

Motor quite happily drops it on every occassion he can, to air it .... so that part of the process is ok, it is just his leg postioning, which has changed
smirk.gif
..... he is 28 btw and is quite a stiff chappy at times now, but this came on all of a sudden a couple of weeks ago

I've never really thought about it so don't know how long OC hasn't be spreading his legs.
I'm sure as long as he isn't straining or uncomfortable then there is nothing to worry about. He has probably realised he doesn't need to spread his legs so doesn't bother.

I think you may be right there
smile.gif
...... funny really, as he always had to think about it and plan it before, so it is possible due to the fact that when he need to go he has to go, just like old people

My horse never stretches his legs out front or rear to pee - actually he just wees while he grazes - if he had to position himself it would waste valuable grazing time!!!!

Maybe he's got 'can't be bothered-itis' too!

Saturday, I'd was putting Lilly's rug back on in the stable, and she just stood there - normal stance and weed. Head down, eating her hay on the floor.

Normally she'd at least go to the back of the stable amongst the straw and lift her tail so as not to get splashed.

Unfortunately the stable slopes down towards the door, so her hay got it -
