Worked out today that our ISH is 16yrs
old. While fit and well, and preparing for the eventing season ahead, wondered how many people compete horses of this age?

16 is nothing if they are fit and sound!

My friends 5* horse was retired from top level (tb ex race) and at 18 was jumping OI with a working pupil and now at 20 is doing 90’s with a mutual friend. This is not unusual.

Old friend/acquaintance Evented his horse to I and his daughter now rides him at 90 - the horse is late 20’s, that’s less usual!

That's extraordinary! And a huge tribute to his carers.

I'm pretty sure I remember a 17 year old doing Badminton one year?

My horse is 20, he evented successfully until he was 16 at 95 here is Western Australia where our ground is hard. We aerovate our courses because it’s like rock. He stepped back when my young horse started competing more. He was sound, had him fully vetted, and have done each year since to make sure we know what his baseline is. He now show jumps 90, trains 1m.
