Further to my post yesterday about the older style saddle I have for sale...
Do older saddle trees twist? How /why do they do this? Is there a way of checking?
Iam 100% possitive the saddle in question has never been dropped or banged. It has been used on TB's and TB's only, never been 'stretched' on a wide horse.
It was expensive in its day, and it is very well made.
Not sure if iam allowed to add pic here (sorry admin if its against t&c's)

I maybe wrong but is that a Kieffer?

If so I would be very careful, I had one and the tree started to disintigrate (sp) and the only reason I knew was when it needed re flocking and the saddler opened it up - imagine my shock to be told 'I have found lots of white powder in your saddle!'

A saddler has looked at it (3 weeks ago) said there were no problems with it. However, he did state that there isn't really a market for narrow/medium types, particually of this age!! (Hence OP I guess)

One of my best jumping saddles was one I borrowed about 6 years ago and it was 30 years old, English, Walsall and just a fantasic saddle.
The makers Plate said Lionel Dunning Jumping Saddle Walsall.
