N38.....Well despite the severe winter conditions I bravely, and with no thought to personal safety made the 200 metre trec to the warm up arena. Because of the many withdrawals my time was moved forward sadly only found out 30mins before test (was still at home) so 15 mins warm up.
Went into indoor (swapping ski gloves -too thick to feel reins for dressage legal white -if I'd worn them I'd have had numb hands so unable to feel anything!) Circled around judges table after his unwillingness to go anywhere near it last time, but being thick I forgot to wait until the judges were sat there.....so
Bell rings enter at A table now has two people sat at it .... terrifying, an almost 3 loop serpentine down the centre line with eyes on stalks, so the next few movements were ok and then ... the sun came out. Now bearing in mind we're indoors shouldn'thave made any different but a little ray of sunshine fell across the arena and that was worse than the judges, a sort of cork screw with a little kick out every bloody time. If you dug a ditch, put flags either side and sold it as a fierry ditch he would have been fine!

So finished on 64.18 winner won it with 66, so annoyed that:
1 With out the daftness we should have won a summer qualifier with a qualifying score
2 I'm actually starting to care and use the 2nd decimal place ...........!!!!

So New years resolutions, book in to the priory addiction centre for what is obviously starting to be a problem. There is talk of diamonte brow bands and sparkley hoof glitter

Help I need therapy

Flaming sambuccas for anyone who made it this far, the god news is there are no photos or videos lurking!!

Slippery slope and all that this stressage!! Well done though, esp for making the massive journey in what must have been horrendous conditions!

Did they run the eventer trial yesterday? I'm completely iced/snowed up and unable to ride at all, very frustrating

anyway, well done, considering you were at home 30 mins before you went in, 64.18
wink.gif
is blooming good.
you will qualify next time!

No was run as a training class, I jumped 95cm cos I didn''t want to wait around and I was bloody freezing.
THe small out door was harder than the big out door but not too bad didn't wnat to jump big on it though. I know we are soooo spoilt with facilities

The way you describe the test I was expecting a lower score so all I can say is the good bits must be very good! You are sounding a bit keen on this dressage lark and the talk of bling is serious. Eventing might just be a bit much next season!

I think a serious talking to is in order. Bling is a complete no-no in my book and if purchased will be ceremoniously burnt, therefore it would be a complete waste of money SO DON'T BOTHER!

Do you think I got the point across there???

Snigger, see this is how my addiction started too.
An eventer having a go at stressage and finding I wasnt far off from winning. So youd try a bit harder, even have flatwork lessons.
Then you'd start winning, judges making nice comments...

......but when the bling starts to appear... oh boy, youve got no chance of going back.

Well done

Great result but I'm really worried about you even talking about bling. Girls can get away with it, but macho eventer-type guys? I don't think so.

MG - make sure you buy him some manly aftershave, Old Spice perhaps

, and check he's not buying hair "products" and hiding them away...

Hair products? You've seen me without a hat - scalp care products more like!!!!
Now to really worry you have just had the first of two back to back dressage lessons with Ian Woodhead and enjoyed it!!!!

He's not very good at shaving regularly, never mind using 'manly' aftershave, despite a decent supply being available (not quite Old Spice but macho enough, believe me.) I'll keep an eye out for any hair 'products' but really can't picture him buying anything of that ilk, not even some of that 'just for men' and hopefully he now feels the same about the bling too!

I was going to make some sort of comment about the hair but thought it wouldn't be quite in the Christmas Spirit!

I think OG can give as good as he gets, so I'll have to hope he's not around next time I'm in the shop at VV picking up my "essential dressage kit" purchases.
