Ok, so my pony is 20years old, pretty much out of work and is 11.3hh. He lives at grass and is fed a handful of spillers senoir mix a day but is fat... Any was last year he had two sausage type swelling on either side of his face which went away in a day or so. He had this on one side today and I felt up to see if it was his gum or his cheek. Turns out it was niether, it was half chewed grass packed up in his cheek, and alot of it at that, made a solid lump. Anyway the point is what should I do?

Get his teeth looked at

sounds as though he's having problems chewing I'd get his teeth checked asap. When you stick your fingers into his mouth is there a smell?

get his teeth rasped coz if it aint seen to it could cause all other problems not just soreness in the mouth but dietariy problems like colic and stuff coz if he aint chewing probally the food will not be digested problem than it will go into the large intestin and not frement so will cause toxins to leak out into the blood then that could even cause laminitis!

Slightly off topic but the dentist was out for an oldie on our yard this week (she's in her early 30's - horse not dentist!). Pony had been have trouble chewing even very soft food - Dentist pulled out 2 bottom teeth BY HAND

they were so loose. Poor old girl now has no bottom teeth on one side but tucked in to readigrass quite happily after teeth had been removed.
