Olyimpics- SJ leaderboard

Um, but that's because they're a long way from done.

Next step will be the Nation's Cup to determine team results and then two more rounds (with a cut) for the individual qualifier so there are 4 (I think) rounds of jumping left to go. Today's competition is just the new version of the old "opening speed" class that traditionally took place on Day 1. (My understanding was they thought this was a less stressful format for the horses as riders wouldn't be tempted to push for time right off.)

I don't know if they even technically gave prizes for today, did they? Just the faults to carry forward.

dont think prizes, as such, (faults transfered) they use it i think as a warm up a sweetner before the hard work begins!!

Did I read that right that the last on that list had 72 faults - that makes 18 jumps? Doh! Just realised about refusals!! What a shame to get all the way to olympics and have such a terrible round. Or am I being particulary thick and it means something else??

She was eliminated for a rider fall so gets the worst score (which was 52) plus 20

The first class also determines the jump order for the teams in the Nations Cup which, as the Germans are now pointing out, doesn't have much effect on results with the possible exception of allowing the last rider in a team to not have to jump again. I wonder if they'd be saying that if they all jumped clear?

First round of the Nations Cup is Sunday, second round Monday. These two rounds are also the second and third qualifying rounds for the individual. Then they effectively start "fresh" with another horse inspection on Wednesday and two more rounds of jumping on Thursday for the individual medal. Lots of jumping!
