I watched the sj last night and am just going to say:
If the surface is at fault EVERY horse making a tight turn would have slipped.
Those riders who had their horses hocks under them on the tight turns managed fine, those with trailing hocks slipped. This would happen with/without shoes.
Even the commentators mentioned that the turns which were smooth and flowing were the ones where the horses did not slip.
By the way...I don't work for the surface company!
