Fab night last night - loved Imke's talk through of a training session. Is it wrong that my fave bits were when a mouted policeman fell off and when one of the dressage horses bolted in the ring? Yes....I thought so.

Oi, They represent GB, NOT JUST ENGLAND!! Sorry, but that really super bugs me. Just like that commentator woman last night said of a dutch using the british anthem that an "English" person should be using that. HELLLOOOO, its the BRITITSH anthem which is not just bloody England. Sorry, rant over!

On a nicer note - The Kur was fab. I personally thought the GB guy on Paganini should have been higher up. Yeah, it was quite amusing seeing the horse bolting off especially when dressage is meant to be all about control.... he he (I dont do dressage!). And the look that woman gave when her horse spooked at something in the crowd - ouch!

Lucky Times, poor thing did the final halt, knew what was coming and started shaking. She turned to leave and he got a fright and bolted flat out down the school, thought she was going to crash into the gate at one stage, quite frightening.

Pretty sure (using process of elimination) it was either Marlies or Anne. The horse spooked at the end of the test and thundered towards the exit but the army guys were trying to move the dressage board at A. I thought they were going to jump out at one stage.

HAHA! see I can see your point! but then, I get annoyed when someone from Scotland insists on being called a scot rather than british!
However, should me being an english person insist on being called english instead of british its deemed to be wrong

So i make the point now! Im BBs and Im English, thing is it shouldnt get anyones back up from saying it, but its surprising how many ppl it does.

Oh yeah results!

Very well done guys!!!!

I think a special mention must go to Steph Croxford, who is a true amateur and five years ago was competing in Restricted Medium with Mr President.
They both looked like they had the time of their life and thoroughly deserved their score of 70.9% last night.

Well done Steph!

My favourites were Sunrise and the young Dutch chap Laurens something or other ! Sorry, can't remember his name but he rode beautifully, very quietly and the horse looked really happy.

Far be it from me to critise the great Isobel Werth but is it just me or does Warum Nicht look short and tight in the neck?
He seems to be decidedly lacking muscle just in front of the wither and also behind the saddle. I struggle to see how a horse can get to his level without developing the correct musculature

Admittedly he does have lovely balance and lift but we are repeatedly told NOT to ride the horse short in front, that the poll should always be the highest point of the neck etc, etc. He may not have the best neck by nature but the angle between his lower jaw and neck is SO tight.
Anyone else notice this or is it just me?

Quick question though - The horse that bolted out, I thought there was rule that said the horse and rider must leave the arena UNDER control?? There definately is in BE (I should know........).

Is this not the same for FEI?

Very interesting press release from the FEI: FEI news
Poor Laura - I hope she is fully recovered now.
And many many congratulations to Steph for an amazing performance and for her pregnancy. She must be over the moon today. She is a great role model for us "ordinary" dressage riders.

yes well done to steph a true amatuer (spelt wrong!), what a great normal horse, none of the fancy highly bred wambloods. not that im saying all the others werent nice, douglas dorsay is lovey and kyras max did not move at the end when she halted and the crowd clapped unlike a few of the others. dont forget the quadrille display what amazing stallions. Im in total awe of it all. keep dreaming of winning the lotto!!

I enjoyed it soo much yesterday:) I think I am in love in dressage to music;))
One question: why does Max (Kyra's horse) swing his quarters from side to side so much in one time changes?? Is this something she does or just his let down?

Yes this annoys me too. In Wales and Scotland there is a lot of national pride and they're all very insistant about NOT being British, so why should English not be proud to be English?

For some reason we seem to be the only country who aren't allowed to be proud of our nationality, and if anybody claims to be, we generally get called racist

Ofcourse a dressage horse can still be spooked, in fact, they, more than other types are likely to spook, they are very fit and very sensitive!!

Also, if you look at the line up, a lot of those horses had never been in that environment before!
