I was discussing with a friend earlier today about going somewhere - aka going out out, in COVID parlance! Just needing something to plan for and enjoy in the next six months whilst we wait for the clocks to go forward.?

we are in deepest Devon and she isn’t happy to get on a train to anywhere just yet. I’m unsure about going to HOYS as found it a bit boring (I am not a shopper)… where else can we go? BE is pretty much over for the year, there is Bicton next month though. Give me some good ideas lovely people!

Chagford pony sales?

Us Londoners have had to be desensitised to public transport again pretty quick though. Personally I’m not keen on how few people are wearing masks but I have no other mode of transport so…

Chagford pony sales is so close to home I was debating popping in for an hour after breakfast and before lunch ? but thank you. Friend definitely doesn’t need any more equines!

Trains and tubes aren't too bad, people spaced out and reasonable mask wearing. Going to something like Olympia (or YHL), I'm not convinced the mode of transport will be any riskier than the event - the seats at Olympia bring you into much closer contact than any train. Buses on the other hand are probably best avoided unless you have to.

I suspect that I feel much like your friend, I have made the decision not to go to any non essential indoor events for the forseeable, (or use public transport but I'm very fortunate in that I don't have to) ETA I will miss Olympia terribly, it is the perfect Christmas build up event!

We took the same decision. We go outside to ride and walk and I have come to regard the yard as a Covid-free zone. But our holidays have both been in rented flats. We are not cowering. We meet friends but we also make sure that we can live worry free.
It is not true that everyone in London ignores the risk of public transport. It is very personal. My cleaner is always on the buses but our middle aged children cycle in if they need to go to the office.
