Maybe because they provide one of the highest levels of safety currertly available on the market??

And so ofter we see so many threads criticising them for taking their hats off to salute the crowd as being unsafe and being bad role models, now someone is criticising them for wearing the safest hats on the market because they think they arent stylish...... they can never win!!
 
I agree "those bicycle hats" are not the sexiest but I gave in and bought one as they are the safest showjumping hat you can buy. I have had to justify the cost by wearing it all the time to ride, even though I only wanted a competition hat as I reckon I am even more likely to need it on the road...

Are they really? (not questioning whether they are or not, just didn't know they were) Interesting you don't see more XC riders wearing them then :confused:

I dont honestly know, but should imagine it has something to do with them having a peak and eventers dont like to go CX with a hat with a peak......... That, and I think like GPA or Protector have a majority of the SJ market sown up, Champion have the Eventing market!! Each discipline has it's "popular" brands.....

You're not supposed to wear a fixed peak for XC - can cause nasty injuries if you land face first at speed! Although I'm sure I've seen a few European eventers wearing hats vey similar to those seen at Olympia recently. Didn't know those hats were any better to be honest - just thought it was showjumping 'fashion', along with the horrible new jackets, oh and the union jack boots (uuurgh!!)
 
Another thread hijacker! Why in the prizegiving did they keep saying Ellen Whitaker and Ladina B were in there when they weren't, it was Guy and Richie Rich, were they collecting rosette? After all Ellen doesn't do prize givings with LB unless absolutely necessary but for obvious reasons!
