Olympia - Travel & Accommodation Advice Pls!

Not a massive help but I remember it taking me a while to cross London by tube to get to Olympia as it is at the end of a 'spur' of tube line the trains are not quite as regular as on other lines. So please, dont book anything which involves cutting it fine.

I know it sounds a bit extravagent but you could look into getting a driver to collect you from Stansted & take you directly to Olympia I think in the generally scheme of things it is not stupidly expensive. Text me if you are interested & I can find out about it for you. My Father has a regular driver who takes & fetches him from airports...........

Thanks, Joss. My personal travel adviser, TarrSteps, has confirmed that Kings Cross to a station close to Olympia should only take 20 mins and we have one hour 40 so going to go with train on Wednesday morning and keep fingers crossed for no delays. Please do pm me details of the pick up people though as it would be good to have incase we hear of delays in advance.

Your rugs are, I'm sure, jumping up and down in their bag and waving hello. Let me know if any of A's trucks are in our neighbourhood :)

Accommodation wise try LSE (London School of Economics). We're staying there when we go, it's Uni halls of residence in central London, no frills, B&B. Three of us are staying for £80 total!

On the tube/overground it'll be about 20 mins - bus or cab, much longer.

Also are you checking in before going to Olympia? I only ask as they might not let you in with luggage. I know the year I went they were really hot on bags and security... Can't remember if there's a left luggage or not there.

Thanks, that's on my list to check.

You will have a fab time, i go every year on the Saturday, get there early for do some shopping before the performance start. Its a bit of a Christmas tradition as it starts Christmas for me.
As others have said try and avoid going over ground, after trial and error we foud the best route was a train to Clapham then a direct train to Olympia from there but then im just outside london If you can try and get to Clapham it will be an easier journey but i guess it depends the rest of your travel.

There is a cloak room there which you can put your coats etc in and i think there is a place to put shopping so it might be worth seeing, if you do end up with your luggage, if you can put it in one of them. Worth an ask before you go.

Oh and if at all possible dont buy food there, its expensive and not always that nice plus there isnt always room to sit so you end up sitting on the floor round the edge of the seating stands.

Have lots of fun :)

We are staying in the travel lodge Waterloo as only a short tube journey to Olympia and got a really good price. Never Been before and going on the Saturday night! So excited

Ooh interesting thread, I've just booked VIP tickets for Tuesday night (there are only a couple left) so also last minute organizing. But very excited :-D

We are going Monday and Tuesday for dressage. Tried to just buy tickets couple of weeks ago but most sold out. So booked 2 nights with Superbreak including top price tickets and hotel in Bayswater. Cost about £140 pp. We are going by train from Derbyshire and using Oyster cards for tube. I was brought up in London but rather hazy on central London geography these days! Found the TforL journey planner very useful for both this and previous trip to Greenwich for Olympics.
