Hi

just wondered if anyone has ever taken a baby to Olympia? LO is a year old and it just ocurred to me we might not be able to take a pushchair...?!

I know Earls Court well and have been several times but don't recall anything to do with babies there...

EEEEk can we even go?

It's a long day (or late night), it's hot, the lights are bright, it's noisy, it's cramped - why would you want to?

I have 3 children under 4 so I know where the sentiment is coming from but please think carefully about it.

We have done it, take a changing mat, a small push chair, but I took a baby backpack. You can always find a small space to change bums if you take your mat.

You are right though, nothing to do with babies, so you have to get inventive, take a flask of hot water to warm food and drinks ( dont like jars myself, but sometimes needs must)

And something to amuse baby.

You know all this of course, have fun, it will be easier than you think

ps, change of clothes, stupid me completly forgot that

I've not taken him to Olympia but I've taken him to YHL a few times (I think he was 3/4month old the first time) and it was fine so long as you're organised and don't expect to be able to watch performance after performance because they do get bored and need entertaining (even if it's just walking around!

The problem you may encounter is with the pushchair when you are sat down - where would you put it? It would be ok if you had outside seats but if you were in the middle it would be quite difficult

We've got matinee tickets and it finiishes at half four and we live near ish so he'll home well in time for his usual bedtime.

Also since I've been loads my plan was to wander round the shopping when things are on I've seen enough of already - i.e shetland GN. Dog agility etc.... If he can't cope we'll leave and we're really only going for a bit of shopping and Xmas atmospere.

It's more a logisitics of can you leave a pushchair anywhere or should I try just a sling? I've got a bugaboo cham so could take a car seat and the frame?

I know there are baby change facilities etc (and he's had a butt change on my desk at work before so we can be creative and not worried qbaout that.

We can take food pouches but I can't remember if the cloakroom is somewhere I could leave a car seat etc

thanks too for the people that have done it and don't think we are bonkers though completely understand wouldn't want to take lots of littleys!

anyone else with tips much appreciated

I would ring the show office and see what facilities they have before you go - you may have an option to leave it somewhere if it's prebooked?

Gails - I had 3 under 2 at one point - twin girls when my son was 18 months old!

OP - arena seating is cramped (knees rammed against the seat in front) and there will be no room for a buggy and some jobsworth steward prob won't let you leave it anywhere else. I'd go with a carrier if you are determined to go with said sprogling.

There is a charity shopping drop off point, you could try and see if they would let you leave a pushchair there (for a donation). I think the sling would be more practical though, especially as the shopping area gets so mobbed, and the seats are very close together.

that's useful thanks. I really want to take buggy so OH can walk round with him whn he gets bored (OH not baby) as OH complains baby is heavy LOL.

C might want a nap mid afternoon too so that's when OH would go off for a walk quite happily.

Am sure we can do it. Me and baby have been on a 600 mile round road trip on our own this week already so am sure can tackle Olympia with OH there to carry stuff!
