Has anyone seen on the 2012 site there is a 'prestige' ticket offer - based on a hospitality package?

My jaw has just hit the ground - the cost per person for the cross country day is £795!

It includes a croissant breakfast, lunch and 'traditional' tea + a marquee to sit in should it rain. I believe the normal tickets had a face value of around £50?

Astonishing! Had the equestrian events been held somewhere in the country, far more than 50,000 tickets could have been sold. I know all the arguments for using Greenwich but really - this does rather rub one's nose in it.

I don't know anyone who was successful in getting tickets for the xc day.

And I don't know many people who would justify £700 for a cup of tea and a bun.

PS: That should read XC in the title of course: Clearly the shock has rendered me illiterate!

How much

We had an email last night saying we had been successful with our ticket application but not telling us which tickets we had. As we only applied for 2 tickets for xc day we are assuming that this is what we've got, fingers crossed

You'd also have to buy a table of ten I believe. I used to work for the holding company of prestige and as I've become a bit 'desensitised' I didn't think the XC was all that bad price-wise.

All rugby hospitality at twickenham is min £500, Wimbledon can be anything from 700 to 5 grand (I'm not joking, people do pay this money!) if you want a hospitality bargain go to Cheltenham for a mere couple of hundred...lol

You do get Fed and watered (or wined-free bar all day) very well at these sort of things, equivalent to a very posh slap up meal in a restaurant, not just a bun and cup of tea lol!

I guess what you're paying for is the guaranteed ticket hence why hospitality, even in the recession, always sells well.

I'm considering saving up for a modern pent hosp ticket, a snip at 495! *rollseyes*

Congrats terrierliz on your tickets - great news!

I appreciate what you're saying AprilBlossom in terms of the cost being par for course re hospitality - it's a spendy business in general of course.

My sadness at this is that the Olympics on home turf is in all probability a once in a lifetime event and for me it would be nice to see as many tickets as possible at a reasonable price. It's great the organisers are going to be tough on touts - but kind of ironic that these high cost packages are official!

I'm a broken record here but if only they'd used a bigger venue I'm sure many more if us would be happily looking forward to our fifty pound day out :-)
