Well, Nick Skelton is now riding Transmission who used to be ridden by Marion Hughes i believe...not sure he was ever an Olympic horse though

well the rumour i have heard concerns the Irish team horse that is already based in this country. and the day will never come when the owners of watership down move him, unless louise lyons has decided she doesnt want to ride him anymore (unlikely) so that narrows the options a bit. However i am sure if the rumour be true Millicent will know and i bet she is reading this, so do tell.

thats what i heard but you know the way people talk you never know whether to believe it or not poor austin he must be gutted

Am not suprised, it's a loss forn Austin but he's got some nice ones coming through and HdM wasnt a gold prospect for him. Will be interesting to see how Mary gets on with him

i suppose the owner wanted to give mary another top horse to make up for the loss of call again cavalier.too bad for austin though

Shame for Austin, but not a suprise really, considering the owners have horses with the great MK.

Will she get on with it though? Its not big and brown, but it is a gelding!

Confirmed in the Irish Field today. Had comments from Mary King, Austin, and Ginny Leng the Irish High Performance manager.

Am gutted for Austin. Its not like he wasn't getting on with the horse. He went well at Badminton 2007, and finished on dressage score in Hong Kong in 21st.

Could Mary not have accepted the horse (or is that me being extremely naive and not how things work in the real world). I would hate to get a horse in those circumstances, and theres no guarantee she will get on with him. He seems v different from her normal type.

we all feel sorry for austin.isuppose the owners felt that their first loyalty was to mary.and as for mary getting on with the horse i have no doubts

I suppose you could say that I'm biased (as irish), and I know some eventers change riders frequently (ie Tom Cruise), but if Austin wasn't getting on with the horse I could understand it better. However he was doing great with him, and Mary has 4* horses available for teams already. She doesn't need H du Mee as well.

it is a huge shame for Austin but i really cannot see PR being an Olympic horse- no offence intended.

Lily perhaps, as she has more potential in her dressage... i remember her when she was at PN/Novice level and she was always a beautiful horse to ride- so balanced and well behaved.

i always thought the Davies were really lovely people, very nice to us girls, always pleased with the horses and very understanding of any hiccups.
