Yes. I think there are a very limited number of horses in the world capable of jumping this true Olympic course, but I do believe every horse on our team has it in them
I shall be absolutely shaking with nerves watching them mind you!
Its a difficult one, is russel of a high enough class (arko would have been better) I think Corlatto and peppermill will cope and rollette is not used to this level (????) Im keeping all my fingers crossed for them all XXX
I know these are the smaller SJ countries but I am seriously disappointed in the standard of riding we are seeing.
There is all this hoopla about Event riders being licenced but, after seeing that guy nearly badly hurt himself and a women with no control, I really think there should be some sort of standard for riders.
This arena is blowing a couple of horses minds but there are some horses there who genuinely are not Olympic standard and are over faced at the first fence.
I have NO doubt in Russell's ability. Have you seen the vid of him doing the 6 bars at Spruce Meadows??
He's MORE than capable IMO!!
As for Rollette - I think the pure class they showed on Friday showed they are up to it.
Peppermill - well I don't think anyone would question that partnership :grin
If anything, the horse I would question would be Corlatto - But I think Tim can pull it off as he's so skilled and absolutely gets the most out of the mare
I agree MHB! It's 1 thing to qualify but this is a big step up...these horses and riders need to be performing at 5* shows to be able to handle these courses. and as they have said on the commentry this isn't even the toughest course!!

It is rather cringeworthy seeing horses that are *clearly* not up to Olympic standard being asked so much....
Agree with Puppy! I think we've got a cracking team of horses and riders. And really, what other horses would we have sent???
Rolette easily has the scope and ability, just got to see if the atmosphere gets to her. Ben rode her fantastically on friday and if they go like that, then I have no worries!
MHB ageed- i tuned in just as that girlie in the last sesh nearly fell off in the duoble then was eliminated for the refusals, then watched the next bloke fall off...i was shocked...
mind u, those fences do look huge and im wondering how they can possibly make it bigger and scarier in the next rounds!!!

This is Katie McVean and Forest at the 2008 Horse of the Year Show (in New Zealand I presume). They won the class. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ju4gojhHTo0 (quality isn't great though)

I am sorry, I am not quite sure what that is supposed to prove to me before you deleted it.
Horse of the year show in NZ is definitely not anywhere near the standard, by the looks of it (saying that is was only a tiny clip), of what our HOYS or the Olympics is.
