Prices have just been released and I'm a bit shocked at how high some are at basic level. In particular XC day, they are certainly going to make the most of the fact they can only have 15000 in the site!!

Equestrian - Dressage
Preliminary (presume team test) £95 £65 £40 £20 (Concessions available)
Final (presuming Special) £150 £95 £55 £35
Final (presuming Kur) £275 £175 £95 £65

Equestrian - Eventing (dressage, jumping only)
Preliminary (presuming dressage) £95 £65 £40 £20 (Concessions available)
Final (presuming Showjumping) £150 £95 £55 £35

Equestrian - Eventing (cross-country only)
Preliminary £55 (Concessions available)

Equestrian - Jumping
Preliminary £95 £65 £40 £20 (Concessions available)
Final £150 £95 £55 £35
Final £275 £175 £95 £65

Can anyone say OUCH!?!?!

I'm just glad I was lying down when I looked, it's going to be an expensive outing, hopefully the atmosphere will make it worth every penny! Don't think it will be a 'full' family day out tho, I can't see many people paying £55 (or proportional concessions) for children!

there are concessions available for children on XC day apparently children under 16 will 'pay their age' so £12 for 12 etc and those 60+ will pay £16 but don't know how many concession tickets will be allowed.

But once you factor in transport/accommodation etc it will be a very expensive viewing experience!

Blimey - £55 is pretty steep for xc day. However, I'm more flabagasted by the cost of the final day of dressage or SJ - £275!!! That's outrageous - I hope you get something like lunch for a ticket at that price!!

It is expensive, but a once in a lifetime opportunity (unless you want to pay a fortune to go abroad)! I'm going and have started an Olympic fund ;):D

Hiya, yeah expensive but i think if i can get hold of tickets ill def go.

Where did you get this info from?
Anyone know where and when tickets will be on sale?

Thanks,
Annika :)

I so hope this isn't like Windsor Europeans where ticket prices meant cameras were panning rows of empty seats for the jumping. Expensive day out for a family and the thought of trouping through the crowds of London isn't appealing.

Am gonna go though if I can get tickets, we have to get behind our Olympian equestrians.

And my partner wanted to go to the Opening Ceremony while I wanted to go to the SJ Finals... Mmmmm I think we may reconsider! I take it the more expensive tickets are the better seats?

Well I'm seriously considering whether or not to bother! It is very expensive compared to Burghley or Badminton and you need travel to London, which will add shedloads. I dread to think about parking if you choose to drive

I said to my sister before the olympics were awarded that we'd go and make a holiday of it if they were in Paris but it would probably be as expensive if not more if in London.

A few years ago a friend and I were looking at holidays and we could travel to Paris more cheaply than London - crazy!!! The hotels were cheaper too.....

Great, if I can get hold of a ticket, I can take my Mum for £16! I keep telling her there are bonuses to being 60+!

Agreed, I hope they pitch it correctly, it would be so good to have our Olympian's fully supported on home turf. (Or the 'special' Olympic track surface!)

I can't help thinking despite the high costs some tickets will be like gold dust. Do you think any of the feed companies will do a 'willy wonker in the chocolate factory' style ticket surprise? How much fun would that be emptying out heavy feed bags in the dark winter months to find, peeping out of the nuts, your Olympic season tickets!

(Sorry on too many drugs, with too much spare time!)

The Olympics in London is a once in a lifetime occasion! :-) How can you complain about the expense??? (People pay a fortune to go and see a concert for a couple of hours, and other sporting events are not cheap - anyone bought tickets to Wimbledon?!). And as for travel expenses - cheaper than flying to the other side of the world....

Tickets don't go on sale until the spring so get saving! I can't wait to get behind our team. I'd love to go see a bit of everything - dressage, sj and of course eventing. It'll be AMAZING.

I think the other problem for those intending to watch it on telly is that with all those other sports to cover I think there will be very little equestrian coverage, as per the WEG.

We had to dart all over the show to find the little crumbs they offered us :(

ditto my mum can go to the preliminary rounds for £16 as well!!

From what I'm reading, as of March you can register for tickets for the inidividual events, then at a set time (not sure when) ticket 'invitations' will be issued with a ballot being held if necessary if too many people apply for one event, and then the tickets can be bought if you have an invitation as such!!

I'm seriously hoping that if you get an 'invite' that it entitles you to two tickets at a minimum!!

well personally If I'm going to go I don't want the 'cheap seats' especially for the dressage and so I would be looking at over £200 to watch 1 day eventing dressage + eventing XC & SJ and then personally I wanted to see either the special or Kur as well so that is another £100-200. so potentially up to £400 to watch 4 days of competition. Then add in accommodation which you know is going to be absolute minimum £100 pppn over the olympics unless you can find a very nice friend to put you up who lives in central london, then add in food (will they allow outside food into venues? probably not!), and travel and I would be looking well in excess of £1,000 to watch 4 days.

Yes once in a lifetime that olympics are in the UK but I think I will be looking at going for 1 day not 4 now.....

There doesn't seem to be a timetable, does anyone know the actual dates for these events?

I went to Sydney Olympics so may give this one a miss as traveling from Scotland down, accommodation and a couple of days tickets will bankrupt me at the moment!

Sky tv subscription for the month I think (Unless the BBC are going to do it?)

I am thinking of going to the SJ and xc, it is expensive but the cheaper seats are still cheaper than going to HOYS or Olympia for the day. I cant wait, told my manager I want the month off unpaid leave so I can watch the Para and the Olympics live (even if its just on tv).

I went to Sydney too, I was studying on an exchange at the time and due to return back to uni in the UK before the start of the games. My course leader very kindly suggested I stayed out and attend, as 'it's a once in a life time event!' Here's hoping I can make it a once in a 12 yr cycle event!

I seam to remember the Dressage and XC tickets in Sydney were really very reasonable, otherwise as a skint student I wouldn't have made it! I even made my poor non horsey b'friend go around the XC with blisters on the soles of his feet, maybe that is why he didn't beg me to stay and marry him!

Sorry digressing! But Sydney tickets were definitely affordable. How do these prices compare to other games?

sadly i don't think there over priced

You look at how much hoys is or world games/ events that are held either here or in other cities like paris - you'd be paying around £80 for these

And how many people have paid more ££ just to get a better seat at a music gig ;)

I don't know what others think but I'm pretty sure we won't be hosting another summer olympics in the period I'm alive so it is a once ina life time experience and sadly the commonwealth don't do equestrian events

Maizy - I think its hard to compare Sydney with London - Englands much easier for other nations to reach than Oz its that supply V Demand problem

from limited info I could find tickets to the final of the showjumping in Bejing were 200-400 yuan which is £18.73-£37.46 at today's exchange rates!

can't find anything on the other disciplines or from athens or sydney, although the report about the Bejing were cheap for all sports.

To be honest though, its the Olympics! I really didnt think they would be cheaper than that....

To go to the BD Convention is around £50, and to go to Olympia to watch the Special is also around that price - so to go to the Olympics for approx the same price seems like a good deal to me.

I guess i am in the minority though.....

I agree but I think its the overall costs causing concern not just the entrance ticket price. You can be sure the hotels will need to be booked now really and they'll rack up the prices, travel etc etc

So overall not cheap.

I'm pretty sure we'll never host a winter games ;) :D

Tickets do seem pricey (but then I'm northern) but I might still considering paying :)
