didnt stay up to watch it and haven't trawled through the post below but did watch an online bit and see a certain American rider hit the deck.

Assuming horse OK but did think as I watched it that Kerilli, amongst others, had got their wish.

Just looked at the results myself, noticed that a certain competitor for China is also eliminated. Goes to show you can't buy your way round xc

hahaha, it was pure karma! must admit, i had a little dance around the living room when it happened. very very sincerely hope that the horse is fine, obviously, the poor old boy didn't deserver that fall. (the thread that was running on here at the time showed that a LOT of other people weren't too unhappy to see her on the floor either.)
i watched it all, it was fantastic!

Have you seen him ride?! Alex rides very well, he certainly hasn't tried to 'buy' his way to the top. Of course he has the horsepower which doesn't come cheap, but he is only 18, give him a break.

I agree money doesn't buy success, but there is someone who is a far better example of that out there whose horse went round the Bejing XC with a different rider...Alex doesn't deserve to be tarred with the same brush IMO.

Well said - he was riding very well before he fell - the commentators pointed out that he rode the first water better than both Clayton and Lucinda.

Sorry to be dumb - but who are you referring to??

That's a bit unfair on Alex, who rides beautifully, is based in the UK and is undoubtedly talented. OK he's lucky enough to come from what appears to be a wealthy background, but he still has to get out there and do the job. His fall was just bad luck, as can happen with anyone, and personally I shall watch his future progress with interest.

Re AT, I admit I cheered! I hope Poggio is OK. He looked a bit stiff behind as he was walked away.

And as for Andrew Nicholson, he should be ashamed of himself. His riding over the latter part of the course was at the very least careless of a tiring horse underneath him, and I was saddened to see him barely look at the horse as he walked away. Lord K has been a loyal and brilliant servant to him for many years and he deserved a more compassionate end to his career. When he got back to the stables I'm sure his grooms gave him the care and attention which was so lacking in public by his rider.

Well, I'm not about to be defamatory on an open forum, now am I?

I was going to post this this morning!!!!!! I was very glad too

And as for riders who have loads of money and have to work hard, could we not include our own Zara in that bracket?!!!!! She works bloody hard and has the money behind her. I've not seen this person from China ride but I expect he faces the same battle that Zara does....

I did mention to OH that there would be a few happy people on here today.
OH made laugh, when AT was riding think one of the commenters said it was a big course, he thought he said it was a big horse, and his comment was "it would bl**dy have to be to carry her!!"

It was a cracking fall

MAde getting up at 1am worth it

Just hope Poggio was ok. Disappointed in AN tbh, and ormally a great fan of his. Shame about Alex, he has improved so much over the last 12mnths, disappointing for him to come to grief at a relatively straight forward fence

But sure he will be a very serious contender in 2012.

hear hear to all of that.
Alex was doing a great round till that happened, it was an insignificant fence and the horse maybe needed a tiny bit more setting up to make him respect it. huge shame though, horse could easily have jumped it fine.
AT - have already been vocal about that. couldn't have happened to a nicer person, obv. hope horse is fine.
Totally disgusted by AN's riding and attitude to horse afterwards. HE made the error, not the horse. he could have ridden for 3 through there (Dag Albert did, on an 8 year old, and did it fine!), the horse was obviously tiring and he'd taken a load of chances already. it was off the bridle coming in and landed short, if he'd held for 3 it would have jumped it fine, i'm convinced. too greedy and too busy keeping his pedal to the metal. hope the grooms fussed Lord Killinghurst a lot, poor old lad.

I haven't had chance to see AT falling on her adequately cushioned backside yet but it does have a certain sniff of karma about it. I hope it made a certain equine smile up on the rainbow bridge.
Hope the horse is ok though.

I went to a friends to watch last night! So couldnt leap up and dance when she fell! But I think I had a wry smile on my face!!! Justice!!

Loved the way the girl from Belarus took her horse round. I know she wasnt being competitive but it was still lovely to see someone with less experience, go round so sensibly.

I hope all the horses and riders are ok. I hope one rider might be feeling a bit bruised and sore though!

I've been really against this on fall your out rule but AT was a pure example of Dangerous riding, she was going far too fast and was lucky not to fall at an earlier fence. I hope she is hurt

[/ QUOTE ]

I am not a fan of AT, obviously but it does sadden me to hear that people wish her injured.

I think its appalling to say things like that on an open forum. Im actually quite shocked, and felt sorry for the woman as she was going round, knowing that there would be people out there wanting her to fall/ do badly etc.

Im not in favour of what she did either, but I actually think its rather spiteful and distasteful to be wishing such bad form on to anyone. Yes she did look like she was riding dangerously, but to me, that horse looked bloody strong too....

Although she may not be forgiven for what she did, I think that there should come a time when she should just be left to get on with her career without all the hateful comments....just my opinion, but dont think anything positive can be achieved from it.

Have to agree with you on that one. Pretty harsh comment...
AT deserved her fall but certainly not to get hurt.

The humiliation alone is much better. If injured we might have been tempted to feel sorry for her... ?

Sorry if i offended anyone, i should have qualified the statement, I obviously don't wish she's seriously hurt just big bruise or something. Of course nothing positive can be gained from it but the whole point of freedom of speech is that opposing views either present the correct POV or strengthen the former. Plus i'm in a bad mood. Its not like i'd acctually go up to the woman, she is a far better rider than me but as a professional I think she should have prepared her horse better for that fence, if not the whole course.

I sent a text to MHB at the time saying "that's what we call karma"
grin.gif
Wouldn't wish anyone to fall off and get injured but to see her having to walk back made staying up worth while.

Absolutely gutted for Alex - he looks like a real talent & will no doubt be a force to be reckoned with at future WEGs and Olympics. Think some people are forgetting that because he is one of very few (if not the only) Chinese event riders he gets a lot from the pot of money from the Chinese sport/Olympic association. Just think how much a GB rider would benefit from if they were the only one!!!

AN deserved that fall IMHO. He was taking chances from the first fence and he paid the price for it. he was lucky to get over those 2 dragon fences. Really hope Lord Killingshurst is ok.

I'm really sad that Alex got eliminated, not only would it have been cool for someone so young to get through but it would have been encouraging for the host country.

I don't care how he got his horse(s), he seems like a nice lad, he rides well and I hope he will go on to do better in future.

Some people on here have a touch of the green eyed monster methinks !
