I'm probably the only person here who is not actually rooting for British individuals! As far as eventing goes, I'm afraid Headley Britannia has stolen my heart - I'd love to see her and Lucinda get a gold. And I'm also rooting for Samantha Albert from Jamaica....I live just five minutes away from her - Ellie often says hello to her horses when we go up to use her school! So I would love to see her do well

In the show jumping, it has to be Ludger Beerbaum, all the way. I have a bit of a 'thing' for Germans, as my lack of patriotism in F1 racing would prove....

ib have ot be honest.. i have no interest what so ever in the olympic this time round.. None at all.. Sick of seeing the same thing time and time again.

I cheer for all the Brits and all the others who are based in Britain (so quite a lot of people then!).

Would love to see Headley Brit get an individual medal and would also love to see the Irish team get a medal (although obviously not ahead of us!!).
 
VERY yay go team GB with all the work/time/emotions that go into preparing these horses and riders for this level of competition, how can you not get behind your preference or country!!! very best of luck to all participating,,, but i am british!!!!! SO GO TEAM GB!!!!!

PS tho would love to see that tiny little mare(whats her name)lol) with summut shiney, mayb a silver one!!!!!
 
I'm very patriotic - particularly when it comes to the eventing! Go team GB!! Tina Cook rode an incredible test today. Though I do have a soft spot for the Aussies also and so far the Fredericks and Megan Jones have really done themselves proud. Will be watching all the Eventing coverage and as much of the rest of the equestrian coverage as I have time for

Being Irish its difficult as we have little chance of a medal....BUT I'm rooting for Lucinda and Brit just because she is amazing,other than her I'll go for the British team in all the equestrian events (but not over the Irish LOL).
 
I'm patrotic when it comes to the horsey stuff....when it comes to the other stuff I'm not interested I'm more bothered about perving on blokes than who wins

I'm not patriotic at all - I like to see the best person/team on the day win. I like to see England lost quickly in football tournaments though - not becuase I've anything against them (even I am Scottish) but because I can't stand all the hype that goes with it.
If I was going to support anyone in the horsey olympic stuff it would probably be Andrew Nicholson and Mary King in the eventing and John Whittaker in the show jumping.
 
I would be happy for the British to win, anything, but as they never seem to then I tend not to get my hopes up!!

And as I said last night, I want the black horseys to win!!

Was rooting for the Austrian guy earlier, gutted at his score! And I do like seeing Team Fredericks doing well.

Of course if Slovenia are competing I always support them, but with only 700,000 people in the country they don't have many athletes!
 
I am patriotic but I am not performance blind. If they are playing or doing badly, I will say and not try and make biased excuses.

I will, of course, cheer for the British but I will also cheer for Andrew Nicholson.

With regards to other sports; I was just watching the men's gymnastics and all I can say is "Phwaor"!!!!

I would love to see a medal for Britan in one of the horsey comps! I've been reading about this no non competitor flags policy, apparently someone got in trouble for flying a Scottish saltire at the dressage but then I seen someone with a George cross, very odd rule indead!
 
I think it's because of the protests Silverspring, they apparently arrested 2 people who tried to unfurl a protest banner at the 1st dressage session. I guess they are just unsure what some of the flags mean if they are not the commonly known country ones!
 
I wouldn't say I was overly patriotic but I would like GB first. I find I like the rider or I don't & that sways my vote. Lucky for me I like all the GB riders

I would then go for Ireland as I have strong irish connections. So after GB & IRE I tend to go for who I like individually.
 
I always root for the underdogs*, because I think the favourites have enough supporters already! However, I'm not really interested in many types of sport other than equestrianism and F1, so will probably stop watching the Olympics after the horsey phases have finished.

But I'm like that with every sport hehe. I don't make excuses though, if the Brits ride badly or make a complete balls up, I don't immediately "ohh but there's a flaw in x, y or z".

I'm not overly bothered about the team medals but individually would love to see Mary King get gold because she so deserves it

I always tend to root for the underdogs. I also really like Kris tina Gifford oops Cook but I suppose I have to fess up I have a bit of a thing for Andrew Nicholson. I think it is ever since he and I had a bit of a fling at Badminton in one of my fantasy dreams one May (dont tell the OH ).
