OMG!!! I clipped my boy for the first time today; he looks AWFUL. My poor boy, what have I done to you? Honestly, its an a$$ of a job, tramlines all over - looks like some poor sheep that's half way to being butchered.

Sorry no pics, way too embarrassed.

But, seriously, does anyone know what I can do? I've got the Liveryman battery-pack clippers (first time I've used them, so hopefully will improve in due course), so OK I'm blaming the fact I'm not used to the clippers.

But Jeez, he looks awful. I can't possibly hack him out looking like this, will have to cover him up somehow! OMG!!

I professionally clip and find that using the clippers against the direction of the hair can still leave tramlines so I use the clippers in different directions aswell, normally does the trick, they grow out in a week anyway.

Oh poor you! Don't panic, it will grow quickly and no-one will know. Bet it doesn't look as bad as you think xx

Ah, yes, that's what I did. On the white bits on his tummy he looks awful, but on the black bits hardly noticeable.

Yup, my farrier once said the difference between a good clip and a bad clip is about ten days (!!!) so will have to keep him under wraps for a while!

I've never really clipped much before; having hired some clippers ages ago we had a similar disaster with another horse as the clippers broke down half way through and we were left with a half-clipped horse.

I do have a friend who does it, and did it the last time in fact; but yours truly thought they'd have a go. My poor lad!

However, I think I might not clip against the coat, as you suggest, and see how that looks.

This is my third clip season with my clippers, only did 3 last year and 5 the first year, so not exactly practised! I'm still leaving lines everywhere, but they doo look a bit less obvious after a week or so........ :o:rolleyes: So from a distance doesn't look to bad :D

I have to say, I used to clip every winter when I was working on yards and never had the problem with leaving lines, but that was over 12 years ago  so not so much out of practice as 'might as well have never done it' lol :D:D:D
