OMG...does anyone else remember..

People actually wore those? :D
I'm not sure I'd put my faith in an off-white sponge but I suppose at the time they were great and on a par with those blue level 3 ones riders seem to have now (well those without point 2s anyway!).
They're quite a bit before my time, but my mum remembers them apparently :)
 
Definately 1980's I think - and they were the good ones - like a pimpled bit of foam!

I had to wait until I was 12 and did a pony club ODE to warant my parents getting me a Body protector - lol. Now I won't jump bigger than 2'3" or xc without one (how times ahve changed)
 
What happened when it rained, did it absorb all the water and you just look a person wrapped up in soaking wet sponge? Although that would give you a lot of bounce if you fell off :)
 
Ha ha - I don't know about that! I never had one. I had a Caldene one later on which was a bit better. You'd probably bounce over the fence on your own!
