Fly was ok this morning, at lunchtime he was very ill indeed. Puss streaming from his nostril and a high temperature. Vets have injeced massive dose of anti-biotics and taken bloods and swabs. Coming back tomorrow to inject again. Have been warned "could" be strangles although vet says he honestly doesn't think so. Examined mouth and teeth under sedation for abcess, nothing. What a worry. God I am so scared, I love this horse so much. Feel so utterly helpless.xx

oh poor boy and poor you.
get well wishes.
and it could be tooth abcess as similar with puss out nose as strangles but horses tend not to be so ill.

How horribly worrying :( Keeping everything crossed he makes a speedy recovery. Please keep us posted. xx

Hope he makes a speedy recovery.

I sort of miss read your post because of his name and was thinking about a friend's 3 year old son who complained about a fly going up his nose, but as they couldn't see anything thought he was making it up (he was the child who delighted in saying the grass was red etc). About a week or 10 days later he had gunk streaming out of his nose, throat and corners of his eyes, and was very ill. Several days of antibiotics later and much blowing of his nose a gunky load of what looked like bits of dead fly came out (yuk)
