Now I know this will prob seem pathetic to most people who don't know the horrid ones story :o and this is something most owners take for granted but I got on Herbs today in the stable yard and rode him out the yard and down the track :D :D :D :D For the first time in over a year i've ridden him for 100% of a hack. :D:D:D:D
He only hesitated as we went out the back gate of the house but he didn't nap :D:D:D:D We had a lovely walk in the forest and he spent the whole time with his ears pricked  I think atlast he is a happy hacker :D
For those who don't know the story here is an old post about him.

Thanks for reading and for all the support i've had on here for the last year and a half all those who told me I could do it where right but :p:p:p to all those who said it couldn't be done. I'm just so proud of my little man i think i'll be :D:D:D:D for a long time.

Here are some pics of the handsom fella :)

Hi Laura! I've been lurking on here for a while and really enjoyed reading your stories about Lucy and then hearing how you're getting on with your new boy :) I lost my horse of a lifetime to an injury and like you my next horse was a nightmare - he'd plant himself in the middle of the road and start bucking, at times I'd get on in the yard and that would be that, we'd be running backwards, hack over! So I know EXACTLY how big a deal it is when you finally get that 'normal' hack out without all the drama :D Congratulations, and onwards and upwards!!

Bless Herbie, he is a real cutie, be very greatful his was only a minor whack to the head unlike poor Buzzie who has 40 stitches :(. Hope Herbie continues to be a good boy :D

thankyou kickonchaps. He's been a good boy out hacking for a while now but i've just been leading him off the yard and up the track as I didn't want to risk undoing all the hard work getting him to behave while out. But today I just thought sod it lets give it a go :D I'm sorry you lost your horse It's so hard isn't it. Herbs has realy helped me through though in his own special little way. :)

stroppy I saw the pics of Buzz poor boy. Luckly Herbs didn't cut himself but he was quite poorly yesterday I think it was concussion. Luckly he seems all better now. Hope Buz gets better soon.

Yep. Well done you! Sometimes what might seem like nothing to somebody else, can be worth it's weight in gold to the person involved. As the old saying goes "from tiny acorns....." Onwards and upwards!

caitlin95uk I did think that but didn't want to say it ;) :p :D

Faro thats so true I just know my OH won't understand why i'm so happy.

OneInAMillion he's got that look right down to a T. One of the girls from work came to see him and she thought he was so sweet and couldn't understand why I called him horrid. She was laughing cos he was sniffing her hair, before I could tell her not to let him do that he bit her on the head. :( :p She still loves him though and always asks how he is. :)

Well done Laura. Just shows what time and patience can achieve. You should be very proud of yourself indeed, and of your smashing boy Herbie. Every journey begins with a single step and look how many steps you've taken already. So happy for you.

Well done, sometimes it's the smallest things that make us happy (not saying this is small to you!) I took on two wild forest foals in December, who use to literally try and climb the walls if you went in the stable with them. Yesterday I picked out all 8 feet for the first time with them standing calming (if a little tense) in the middle of the stable. Huge smiles from me yesterday :-)

Thanks ISHmad. I can't believe how far he has come already. There where times (and I hate to admit it :o ) That I thought he would never hack out. Now he is a real pleasure to go out on and I look forward to it. :D

starsky well done with your two. What huge progress you have made with them already :) It's so rewarding when it all starts coming together isn't it :D Good luck with yours in the future. Foresters are such fun.

Thank you. Yes Foresters are fab, fun and addictive! These are foals number 4 and 5. 1 and 2 are now backed and being ridden (and winning!) and number 3 is a 2 year old. Good job I don't have lots more space or it would be full of herds of hairy foals :-)

Thanks guys i'm still :D :D :D today.

Herbie says yum yum thanks for the carrots muddygreymare

starsky Well done with all the foals :) They must be addictive as I've always been a welshie fan but currently have two forest breds :p Luckly like you i've no room for anymore I'd love to have a foal streight off the forest. :D
