After Senza dumping me at a 2'6 jump at home on Friday night and then napping and refusing point blank to go over it i didn't have much hope for the show at Golden Cross the next day, especially as i was jumping the 1m Derby!!

Anyway we got to the show and i walked the course and nearly pulled out!!! There were 3 water trays (one off of a dog leg turn) a triple, a related distance and a bank with one stride and then a jump coming off of it. Anyway my friend told me to stop being so stupid so i come to the terms that i was probably gonna get eliminated anyway so i should stop worrying.

Senza warmed up lovely!!! She was really jumping her socks off in the warm up and was clearing the jumps with feet to spare so this made me feel slightly better.

When it was our turn to jump i was nearly sick as i entered the ring. Anyway i need not of worried so much as she jumped a wicked clear round!!! I couldn't believe it, our first time in a jump off. Unfortunatly in the jump off we had 2 down but considering it had gone up to 1.05 and thats the biggest we have jumped i was well chuffed. You couldn't stop me beaming!!!

Anyway onto the BN which i really didn't care about by this time as i was so pleased with the Derby. Again she warmed up brilliantly and guess what . . . . ANOTHER CLEAR ROUND!!!!!

We waited for ages for the jump off due to people jumping in the other ring and i think we had given up hope by the time it was our turn. Anyway i decided to just take it steady as we had no studs and she had done so well already that i didn't wanna push her. And would you believe it ANOTHER CLEAR ROUND!!!! You dont know how happy i was, i really could of cried!!!!

Anyway we waited for the results just in case and WE CAME 5TH!!!!!

We won our first £15!!!!!!!

I have finally come to the conclusion that she just doesn't like jumping at home so now the summer is here i am going to get her out a few times a month and see what happens so for now my little super star is no longer for sale (but dont tell her that otherwise she might start jumping rubbish again LOL).

I brought a pic of her going over the water tray and her feet are touching her belly where she is tucking up so much and she is clearing with an extra foot easy. Every pic was the same but that was the best jump so had to have that one.

Anyway one very happy Kelly, not sure what has come over my mare but she has jumped like a pro the last couple of shows so something has obvioulsy started to click into place.

Thanks everyone, its really weird how she just refuses to jump at home or in lessons amd gets really upset and stressed but you get her to a show and she is a completely different horse and loves it. Never seen anything like it!!

That's great news Kelly ! I was wondering how you went in the BN too.

Two down in the Derby JO was nothing to be ashamed of either...there were some very good horses that had 2 or more down in there

Senza is such a big rangey horse that I think she needs the space of the bigger outdoor arena's to flourish, and with the best will in the world, your sand paddock at home isn't the most inviting place to jump

Keep it fun, and keep it relaxed, and you'll continue to improve

well done.

I think your right, where she is big and still unbalanced the extra space is doing her good!!! Hopefully when it comes to the indoor season she will be a bit more experienced and be able to cope a bit better.

I really wasn't bothered about the 2 knocks in the JO as she had jumped so well in the first round. Plus i didn't even realise i had got into the JO at first and they were calling for me so i literally had to drag her off the box and straight into the ring without warming up so that is tough by any horses standards let alone hers!!!

She was on fire by the BN though after she has wound herself up in the JO and we ended up getting 1 stride in a 2 strided double LOL. I am still so happy with her!!

Read your report for Sunday

Hope Trike is ok after his fall?? It didn't stop raining all day did it!!!

Oh great news hun - see she's finally started to come to her senses lol
smile.gif
Very pleased for you, just as you said, leave the jumping now to the shows and just hack and fun schooling at home! Star was exactly the same, couldnt really be bothered at home with schooling/jumping but get her to a show, partically outdoors and she comes alive
smile.gif

Onwards and upwards now girl - and wheres the piccy? x

I really hope she does start to improve, she has NEVER felt this good over jumps until the last couple of shows. Was devasted about selling her but with any luck i wont have to now if she continues like this.

I cant get the pic on the computer

They dont have a website and i haven't got a scanner, sorry!!

LoL!

I didn't realise you hadn't warmedup for the JO

That makes it all the more impressive.

Trike is fine. He just grazed himself...but was happily munching away when I saw him last night, and he's out in the field today

Got a lesson on wednesday night before Hickstead now, so hopefully we can put the demons to bed once and for all
grin.gif

Aww glad Trikey is ok, he is always happy as long as there is food around LOL
grin.gif

What classes are you doing at Hickstead then??

She had a knock in the 1.15 on Lux as she turned him wonkey into an upright to try and save time (people were getting time faults) so she was a bit annoyed with herself for that and she had the water tray down on Mieko in the 1.20 coz Mieko spooked at it and landed on the back pole snapping it ha ha!! She dont do things by halfs!!

She was gonna do the 1.30 on Lux but he has cut his back leg and even though its not swollen and he is sound she didn't want to push him.

Good luck at Hickstead, hope to see lots of pics by the way

Oh honey... I am so happy to read this post!!!

Senza is starting to enjoy her work and therefore you can also enjoy riding her more. I think whoever it was thta suggested she prefers the open spaces for jumping could have hit the nail on the head. Have you thought of going to one of the competition venues for a lesson with their pro (we have quite a few like that up here) or find a BSJA instructor with facilities... I think you may find you enjoy your lessons much more too that way
laugh.gif

So, Senza is off the market eh?! Damn, just when I was starting to think I could manage with four horses
smile.gif
I think I am biased because she reminds me so much of Grace (but a bit darker of course)

Hi ya

I am so thrilled with her at the moment i just really hope she keeps up the good work as i was dreading selling her. Someone emailed me about her and it made me feel physically sick even though i knew nothing would come of it so god knows what i would of been like if someone actually wanted to come and see her LOL.

I do have lessons with a BSJA instructor and she has a very nice school with good facilities and even though Senza does jump better there she still doesn't give me the feeling that she has been doing at the last couple of shows and it was my instructor that confirmed my decision to sell. I haven't had a lesson in about 2 months though and its only been the last few weeks i have really seen/felt the improvement so with any luck my instructor will notice a difference next time too. I really think its the buzz of the atmosphere that she likes too coz she is a massive show off LOL.

If she starts playing up again though i already have the one way ticket booked to yours
grin.gif

Te he... we could swap for a few months
laugh.gif

Seriously though, I am really pleased that things are starting to click into place with her... onwards and upwards
