Poor Buster had an ingrowing dewclaw and I never even knew :(

He has been chewing his foot alot and dropping clumps of hair of it so I thought it was because of him spending so much time at the stables in the mud, muck and god knows what else so I clipped his legs etc so he wouldn't get so much rubbish caught up in his fur...He was still doing it tonight so I got my daughter to hold him while I had a good look and I found his due claw like a big ring in his leg/foot. I managed to cut it out (it must have been driving him mental) and its not infected, very clean. I can't believe I never thought to check it and I have owned him now 2 years. My bitch doesn't have them so I never gave it a thought.

Luckily I normally do their claws myself so I had my clippers and was able to help him as soon as I saw it. God knows how I missed it.

He is now much happier and not chewed/licked his foot once since I clipped it. I will now be checking him weekly so it never happens again.

OMG that poor dog! your right your a bad mum!:D
you divvy, if thats all hes got to worry about in life hes doing ok!!:)

I keep telling my dogs to take note of the cats and how they look after their own claws. they never do of course and so I have to go trimming their nails. thankfully only one reacts like im about to slice her paw off! :)

I am also a bad mummy, Bs claws have somehow gotten very long in the past couple of weeks. OH thinks it may have something to do with the diet change as she is now on raw 5 days a week and kibble 2 days, I have no idea!

She does huge amounts of exercise on roads/ gravel so I am baffled as to how they have gotten so long. I'm gonna have to find somewhere to get them done tomorrow because I have never trimmed claws before (never had to!) and we all know I would end up chopping her toes off!

At least you were able to fix it asap :)
