Poor Buster had an ingrowing dewclaw and I never even knew
He has been chewing his foot alot and dropping clumps of hair of it so I thought it was because of him spending so much time at the stables in the mud, muck and god knows what else so I clipped his legs etc so he wouldn't get so much rubbish caught up in his fur...He was still doing it tonight so I got my daughter to hold him while I had a good look and I found his due claw like a big ring in his leg/foot. I managed to cut it out (it must have been driving him mental) and its not infected, very clean. I can't believe I never thought to check it and I have owned him now 2 years. My bitch doesn't have them so I never gave it a thought.
Luckily I normally do their claws myself so I had my clippers and was able to help him as soon as I saw it. God knows how I missed it.
He is now much happier and not chewed/licked his foot once since I clipped it. I will now be checking him weekly so it never happens again.
