I recently bought a horse from a dealer with a 6 month exchange warranty, within the first week the horse reared, this continued followed by kicking and eventually bolting before they said they would collect her for exchange. I went to see what horses were available for exchange they had nothing suitable so I requested that they found me a replacement as a priority, this deeply offended them and they are now threatening to return the horse to me, I have never bought from a dealer before and I never will again!

Why did it offend them?! How did you phrase it?!

Not sure what to suggest, have you contacted the BHS free legal advice line if you are a member? If, not i would suggest joining and then ringing it - its only £50 odd quid.

We only have one side of a story - so that's a little rash...... As well as defamatory.

Ask for a full refund, tell him he's in breach of sale of good act. Contact consumer direct -08454 04 05 06 and they will give you the advice you need. Trading standards don't get involved until you've been through consumer direct first anyway

Wouldnt you like to know what the people are like that you are getting a horse from?
If they are like this how do you know that they are not making everything up?

So Please could let me know hu it is!

since we know nothing about the OP, and nothing about the 'dealer' it would be impossible to make a judgement, and entirely wrong to defame somebody on the strength of so little information

I would contact trading standards and also ask for a full refund. I would be very careful about publishing their names etc on here.

Thank you MH, that was the point I was trying to make.

DEFRA and trading stadards without a doubt

i bought my boy on the same arrangement and my god i have so many reasons why i shouldve sent him back the main one being i did not get what i thought id bought in many many ways, i mean i couldnt even get on him, but persevered for some bizaare reason and luckily it has come right, but if i had decided to return him on this policy (exactly the same) i doubt it wouldve been done as such.

would be interested to know if it is the same dealer if thats ok then PM me if youd rather not then thats ok. all i can say is if it is the same one then i am very very sorry

xx

Thanks for your advice everyone, after calling every helpline I could think of this morning I now have a solicitor dealing with this. It is worth noting just in case you find yourself or any one else in a similar situation, although I wouldn't wish this on my worse enemy, if you have legal protection on your house insurance it will cover any legal costs including this. As much as I would love to smear their name I obviously can't tell you who the dealer is, just please becareful when buying from a dealer, I have learnt the hard way and any warranty they offer you is no security.
