£200!! (No pics of that mind!!)
Its a crazy world, being paid to take an old boy. I 'only' do mares, but this is an exception. He is 28 full TB, not in good health really as hes a bit lean and is desperate for his teeth to be done as he finds eating a tad difficult.
Meet Biggles!

(ps - I DID cut his mane - had to to get the 'rats tails' out!)

So, aside from rubbish pictures (phone worthy), the poor horse needs TLC. Iam going to have my work cut out - he also has a fat hind leg. So looking forward to the good grass - Biggles really needs it! £200 isn't going to go far is it!? (I've brought him some haylage already, so starting to make a change slowly to his lifestyle.)
I hope to be able to post better pictures as time progresses!

Oh my god!! He is so like Monty!!! Monty was 25 when I got him and it was bloody hard work but we got him looking well until he was PTS aged 30. Here is my boy

What a lovely thing you have done giving him a happy home :)

Bless your heart, you are a star. He looks like he needs someone to really love him, I hope he has many long and happy years with you (and now Im going to start crying like at the end of Black Beauty where hes old but happy) <blub blub>

Bless him - he looks truly amazed. Bet he can't believe his luck - with that lovely bed as well. I bet he thinks all his Christmases and birthdays have come at once. Good on you for giving him a happy home.

I'm going to go slightly against the grain and say......*if* he does not come right at least he has known compassion and love in his last few moments (and may there be many years of 'moments')
It is a noble thing to take on someone's oldie and show them the respect they deserve. If only there were more like you!
Good Luck with him.
x

Lucky boy! Just to put my sensible hat on make sure you get the old owner to write something saying he signs the ownership over to, if he hasnt already. Otherwise in theory you could patch him up and he could be taken away from you.

And well done for taking him on- i agree with woopsiid, its a lovely thing to do

Bless his socks!
Well done for taking him on.
Says something for his old owner that they have tried to help out with a bit of money towards his needs.

Iam friends with his old owner, and have had his wife write us a signed note to say what has happened. I really wouldn't have been able to do anything other than a brush and tidy up, so the money clenched the deal. His owner slimply didn't have time to put into caring for Biggles, he has had him for 18 years and he had p2p him too. He saw the horse looking sad and old, asked me if I'd look after him, so I said I would if some finacial help came my way. Then I was told he was mine and given the money too.
Iam looking forward to getting him back on track to looking a bit healthier, but am dreading the bill that the dentist will give me when he has been seen. (it will happen asap). As for riding him, I don't think thats on the cards atm anyway.

He is a beautiful boy and I am glad he has found a special place. I would have done the same - cue more Black Beauty diamondesque tears.. What a handsome and noble lad

Good luck to the both of you

bless him he looks lovely lovely eyes, hes a lucky boy, well done you for taking him on and giving him the TLC he obviously needs.
Will want plenty of updates and lots of pictures of corse :-)

I once got given a horse. An ex-racer, with a fat leg. He broke my heart and cost me £5000.

Keep on eye on that hind leg, hope it and the other one dont come up more now hes on a better diet. And if he says hes had enough, let him go.

Other wise. Congratulations, he is bloody gorgeous, looks like he just wants a bloody good cuddle and a kiss. Hopefully some time and energy and food with fix him.

I got everything crossed for you.

Lou x

I really hope it works out for you what a lovely thing to do.

However, a word of warning is please get his heart checked all his legs look puffy which in the oldies is a good sign of heart failure, we lost one after a couple of weeks and broke our hearts I would hate for someone else to go through the same. As my vet says, we can do a lot we cannot make them young again.

I am sure he will repair your kindness 10 fold and more, the best of luck with him.

ah bless him, and how good of you to take him on, i really hope you get lots of pleasure from giving him loads of tlc and making him feel thoroughly spoilt (in the best possible way.) he looks like a really lovely boy, he's very very lucky to have landed on his feet with you.
