OMG, I think my foal is Chucky!!

He was soooo naughty with my friend José today; well, he was good for about 20 minutes while I was riding PF, then as I untacked, he turned into Chucky and started rearing (had to admire his balance

) bucking, nipping, refusing to lead back to the field etc, etc. After a few moments of this (he can cram a lot of naughtiness into a few seconds!) I told J to take PF and I'd take Chucky... instant good behaviour. Is this a colt thing, a foal thing or a colt-foal thing?? Felipe, the 14-year old groom (only person aside from myself I trust with the Little Cigar and PF) says he behaves well with him too. Is the LC testing J out to see what he can get away with? And more importantly, will he ALWAYS be this naughty???

Haha! i think your little boy is testing his boundaries - maybe he just didn't like Jose!! maybe he didn't feel Jose was paying him enough attention so thought he would draw attention to himself!!

I think it must be a colt thing PF!
Ive nicknamed Harvey, Lucifer. As he turns into a little monster when he's being handled by other people. Though he's become a lot better, so im thinking (hoping) its something they grow out of! Purely just testing the boundaries to see who he can mess about with!!!

But José is lovely! Can't think why Chuc... I mean the Little Cigar wouldn't like him. Except he does back away from him instead of standing his ground and pre-empting him with a sharp "No! (you little ****)"

My 2 year old filly completely embarrasses me when anyone else handles her

She's ok with me, and YO, mostly, but is a complete and utter brat for other people

I asked another livery to trot her up for me a while ago and T barged, reared, bucked, bit, spun round and had a major tantrum

Poor livery was just stood on the end of the rope, watching her

Everytime the livery tried to get her to walk, T threw herself around

It's a good job she's little

Me thinks he's testing the boundaries, and there'll be plenty more to come!

I don't recall my other foals being like this, but then they were always handled by me or the girl who shared my yard.

Its definately a colt foal thing, we have 18 now and the boys are v. naughty. The one that I am having to bucket feed every hour all through the night, is very naughty indeed, he has a v. cute face but then gets this wild look in his eyes and goes for the kill!

I've had 3 colts in a row. I'm sure the other 2 were MUCH better behaved but they did have each other to play with and the Little Cigar has only got his mum at the moment.
