had my two microchipped this morning.
it all went ok, 2 chips fitted & scanning fine vet said their might be a small blood trail this eveining.

went down to feed & do eve checks & my grey Andy had blood everywhere! from his ears to his tail, cue PANIC! then calm down & catch him. after an hour of fingertip searching there is not a mark on him anywere exept for a timy pinprick where the chip went in.

It looks like the silly tit has rubbed the chip site & spread blood everywhere, is that normal & will he have done any damage to the chip or chip site? ive given it a wipe with a mediswab just in case.

WHY DO THEY SCARE US LIKE THAT!!!!
Sods.

Bless him! I hate it when they give you a scare like that!

The only one that I had any blood with was when my foal was chipped, and that was only because she was wriggling in true foal style as he was trying to put it in. When the others (older) were chipped they just had a sore bit where the chip went in for a couple of days.

That shouldn't have affected the chip, as it goes into the muscle, and not under the skin like other animals, but if you are worried the best thing to do is to get the vet back with their chip reader and get them to check that it is still in place.
