Went showing yesterday and entered Riding club horse and Ridden coloured.

Riding club horse wasnt too bad apart from the fact the judge asked us to dismount and re-mount on the wrong side which was dreadful.

I made it after about 30 seconds trying to get my brain to coordinate with putting my foot in the stirrup. I came 4th so all was not lost.

Then i went on to do the ridden coloured and OMG we won! I really didnt expect it as there were some lovely horses i was up against. Ive now qualified for the Royal London Show in September and im ecstatic!

I have nò experience of the Royal London Show but if you've won qualifier you are more than good enough to e competing there!!! well done!!

Thats brilliant, well done you ! As amage says, if you're good enough to qualify, then you're good enough to compete, you silly sausage ! Very best of luck to you both.

PS. I tried to get on from the wrong side the other day - almost fell off as brain could NOT handle the coordination bit.

congratulations on your qualification. I plan to go to a show with qualifiers next month, but doubt I will qualify as it will be our first attempt at showing. The Royal London Show has its own website so may be worth your while taking a look at it.

Well done you I'm sure you will be fine....I had to dismount and get on the wrong side for your road test (BHS) I just so could'nt do it....it felt soooo wrong but got there eventually just did'nt look very agile

Howengold - what class/es did you do and how well did you get on?

Well done, and if you are in the hairy traditional coloured - I will see you there. I have qualified both of mine, but am not sure if I will be taking Farra yet, though may do if I can get transport for her as there are so few ridden heavy horse classs about for her.

I have not been yet, but have friends who have, who said it is a really nice show.

Good luck for the finals.

Ohhh how exciting.

I have no idea of the schedule and didnt know the coloured classes were split. I wont be in traditional as he has clipped out legs and is show platted.

Ive sent my registration card off today so will hopefully get some info on it some time soon.

We will have to meet for a coffee.

My daughter took her traddy cob last year and had a brilliant time. Its a fab show, big and loads of classes. The standard is very high although I believe it is aimed at amateurs as apposed to trying to compete against the pro's. You will find that you can do much more than just coloured classes as your qualification allows you to enter other classes relavent to your horse. The best bit is being able to enter some of the evening classes (pairs or concours) which is rteat as you get to wear all the evening show gear and go into the indoor arena under the spotlights. This is somthing that you only get to do if you are in a championship at most shows. We had a fab time "camping" in the lorry for three days and the venue is very well organised. We would love to go again this year but money is too tight with yard move and daughters wedding, maybe next year. Good luck if you go.

Well if I go on the Friday I will be very very easy to spot - the only under 5' person on a sabino clydie mare who is just turned 5 and is still all legs and not much balance. However, I have to find a box for her first.

On Sunday, it will be Stinky's turn - dark bay skewbald trad going round with short pudgy me on top - brown tweed and hat.

I am looking forward to it and really hoping that I can do classes with both of them.
