I have bought LOADS of stuff from ebay but never sold anything and I have just listed (am I allowed to say) a trailer. Might be daft but my heart is going ten to the dozen - how silly is that!

I must have rewritten it a hundred times.

Keep your fingers crossed in seven days time!

Anyone else sell on ebay - or even sold a trailer on there before?

I sold a trailer on ebay a couple of years ago, got a really good price for it. It's very exciting watching the bids go up on the last day of the auction!

I have sold all sorts on ebay - but my biggest thing sold must have been a tractor
and the biggest thing brought was a £3500 classic car ...blind!

Good luck!

Good luck with your sale. Can I just say that if you are accepting PayPal on the sale DON'T! Cash only on collection is the safest way.

Being nosey I see that you are accepting PayPal. The trouble is that PP T&C's insist that the proof they require that the buyer has received the item is a signed for online trackable delivery. Theoretically your buyer could pay you, turn up to get the trailer and then claim non-receipt. Even if you get them to sign for the trailer PayPal will NOT accept this as evidence and will return them the money - leaving you with no trailer, no money and chasing them in the small claims court.

Sorry to be so down about it but I hope that this helps.

btw - It's a nice ad for the trailer and the pics are lovely - especially given all the foul weather we've had! Best of luck!

Phew - Done! Thanks for the tip

No probs, sorry to panic you - but I'd rather let you know about it on here first than be trying to pick up the pieces on eBay Q&A in a couple of weeks time!

As its my first listing I need to know about these things.

As for the pictures - literally taken between rain showers yesterday.

I agree when selling items like that always list with cash on collection. I both buy and sell on there and the biggest and most expensive items bought and sold were cars.
We bought and sold the same car on there ( few years in between though) current car bought from ebay (blind ie couldn't get to view it first) and we had to travel to Newcastle upon tyne -where my partner had lived before he moved in with me- to go and fetch it lol.
Once sold an old collectible fiat for a relative. I think it had MOT but no tax. My partner and I very kindly towed it on a trailer all the way from Stoke to Portsmouth. Never again would I help out a family member like that though as it was too much hassle for little reward. We did all the hardwork, and relative did basically nothing.
Have also bought and sold tack on there as well as household items and clothes too. Hoping to have an ebay shop one day when I can get enough money behind me to start dealing with manufacturers and traders.
It's good fun though but it is addictive and time consuming. I find the listing the most time consuming. Especially when you have to write down loads of techinical jargon or measurements.
Good luck with your first sale though but be prepared for timewasters as you are most certain to have dealings with some.

I sell & buy quite a bit on Ebay (usually equestrian stuff!). Never sold a trailer though! Last thing I sold was my body protector which I got a very decent price for it (almost as much as what I paid for it brand new 2 years ago!).

Daft Question. Is it the done thing to give a receipt albeit hand written for it?

This sort of thing unless you have a better example?

Received the sum of **** in full payment for Rice Beaufort Trailer from Mr *******
Sold as seen and without predjudice.

My name and address

Yes Perissa it is. I learned a lot from my uncle with regard to trading and he always gave people a receipt if he sold anything.
That sounds fine to me and for extra assurance you could always get one of those receipt books that have the carbon copy underneath ( cheap at partners and shops like that). By using one of them you have a copy for your own records as well.
I would also be inclined to put that day's date on and to sign it at the bottom as well as you are in receipt of monies.

And another question. Need to be prepared just in case.

What if - they win it or buy it now but then decide they don't want it? Or turn up to collect and decide they don't want it?
