didn't manage to hear the interview because my speakers aren't working

I do believe she is raising the profile of equestrian sports in this country, which can only be a good thing... but I certainly wont be purchising a KP velour equestrian tracksuit!

She keeps going on about bringing glamour to the horse world - yet her range is pink velour

Pink velour is many things, but it is not glamourous

She sounds harmless enough though

This is true. People work their whole life towards competing for their country at the olympics, so I don't imagine KP will be fullfilling her aim anytime soon no matter how much money she has.
Its probably all just for her publicity anyway.

To what end? KP "raising the profile" of equestrian sports isn't going to bring down the price of horses or livery, or feed. I very much doubt it will mean any extra prizes or prize money at the "average" competitor level. It won't even mean cheaper riding lessons for ordinary kids - if demand for riding lessons increases, riding schools will put ther prices up to beneft from the increased demand.

Lets not even talk about what happens when people go out and buy ponies just because they are cute and you can dress them up in pink stuff, without any real idea of how to look after them.

I guess what it WILL mean is that tickets to things like badminton, Blenheim, Olympia and HOYS will become even more expensive and sell out even faster.

But the sport does need to raise its profile - especially dressage. Equestrian events are being threatened with being kicked out of Olympics because general public don't understand them and they are considered elitist.
So if Jordan can generate some publicity for the horse world, it has to be a good thing.

Surely it doesnt hurt her to have an aim?? She wont be selected because she is a celebrity - if she isnt good enough, she wont be picked....simple as that....but it isnt hurting anybody by saying she is going to have a go is it?? As far as I am aware, she was riding horses long before she was famous.......

People may or may not like her, or her clothing range, but I cant see what all the fuss is about tbh.

She has as much right to try as anyone else. Zara Phillips didnt get where she is because she is royalty did she??

Ach, good luck to her. She's not affecting the quality of my life, she has an ambition, I'm not about to knock her for it. Here's hoping she does become good enough. If she works hard enough for it, with the right trainer and the right horse, you never know.

Without ambition, where would any of us be...

Sorry everyone but I'm right behind her. She's made her money herself, she knows what she wants, she knows she's set herself an optimistic target and she's going to try her best to improve and be very successful at dressage. What the hell is wrong with that? Maybe her parents didn't buy her pony club school masters to carry her through the ranks and her money hasn't always been there. She's got some good horses now all on her own, all be it by an unconventional route, all she's got to do is get as good as them. She seems to have set her mind to it and we know she's nothing if not determined. I really hope she gets there.

whats wrong with ambition??!! She said that the horse she has just bought will be too young for 2012 as he is only 4 now, and her other one (jordans glamour girl??) wont get to that level but she will hopefully get quite high up. I think thats pretty realistic!!

Alot of people have ambitions some set theirs low others set theirs very high...

Ok, Im not a fan of the pink stuff or the price of it, but shes a 'business' woman ( I use that term lightly) She knows that when her looks start to fade she has to rely on something else top keep her in horses and pink stuff.

Also yes Dressage needs its profile lifting, wouldnt it be nice if someone like Katie price (Jordan) Could do that, shes normal(ish) It then gives us more normal people a chance too. If the publis can relate to KP then good, alot of people on here were commenting yesterday that Zara only got where she is today because shes royalty
shocked.gif
Bo***ks!! She got there with talent. KP hasnt got as much talent and she even said she knows shes not the best and that shes flattered to have the opptunities shes getting...

I say wait and see, I dont expect to see her at the next olympics but I hope she damn well enjoys doing what shes doing!!
