I can't believe it my horses are on a bare paddock and have a bale of low quality hay to keep them happy they ate one so he put another one in and then this weekend he had put another one in and then today i went and had a look at it to as horse was there and this one was HAYLAGE!
I don't know what to do as well as making horses fat as it gives my cob the squits and sends him loopy, i don't want to say anything because i know what he is like and will go mad at me!

move yards to yard no 2!!!!!

and maybe ask him to remove it, or do you have leccy fnecing? if so, move it to cut off haylage until its moved

say what?

why on Earth would you be afraid to speak up where your horses welfare and health are a concern? Why on Earth would he go mad at you? Would he not be happy to save a bit of hay money? I have never heard of a YO who wnats to spend more feeding the animals than they have to so it makes no sense to me ?

he doesn't get money for it! and people that have disagreed with things he has done before have been given one weeks notice and i don't have a new yard sorted just yet.
Seems easy for someone to comment thinking what can he do but he can be very funny about things will have to go tonight and approach in nicest sort of way without sounding like i am being rude etc

I would say calmly that your horse gets very unwell on Haylage and would he mind using normal hay in future. Say you wouldn't normaly point it out, but it's because your horse gets unwell. I think a new yard is in order also. Good luck

just say your thankful he gave them haylage however it makes your horse ill and is there any normal hay you can have instead make sure to look grateful for haylage you just gotta work round it keep it civil till you sort out some where else

Perfectly put, ditto this!

1) is your livery just grass livery and how much do you pay per week.
2)does your livery agreement include extra feed on top
3) Is your yard owner that bad you cann't talk to them, it seems to me he or she is trying to the best for you and your horses and you haven't spoken the them

it is just grass in the summer stabling in the winter, no i buy all feed in and yes he is that bad lol no i am only joking he can be very funny at times and we chatted about him putting hay in as but now it is bacause he wnts to use up his haylage

sounds to me he's a farmer type, bless them they can very prickerly
is he charging for the haylage and is it suitable for horses.
Best tip a decent bottle of whisky at Xmas works wonders
