omg new horse ......... Update

Awwhh what a shame , i guess , it saved you alot more money thought than keeping him , dont worry there's another horse out there for you :)

Wow you are VERY lucky to get a refund. I didn't with a totally broken horse that I brought off connections to do with where you got your horse. I suspect mine was vetted by same vet, he passed it as suitable for SJ and Hunting when my vet said it was lame as hell and would never make more than a hack!

I got rid of mine asap. It was sad but my OH said something that stuck with me 'you cannot be responsible for the fate of every horse and we are not a charity. There is a horse fated to stay with you forever but unfortunatly it is not this horse'.

He was right, I dont even miss the horse now. I have a fantastic new horse who is everything I wanted and I will stick through any illnesses which may arise in our partnership. It is not fair however to buy a horse with a problem that you haven't been told about, the responsibilty for that horse lies with the person who missold him. You are lucky the dealer realises that.

You will find one, the one you are meant to be with :) Think of it as a lucky escape!!

I'm sorry hear this but it's for the best, it's just a shame when you get attached to them though, nobody wants them to go back but no doubt you have saved and paid out a lot of money for what was going to be a good alround riding horse, not a light hack or a companion, such a shame.

Hope you find the right horse very soon and the dealers do right by this horse.

yup trying poor babe i will see him later

Is there anyway you could get a refund and still keep him, maybe as a companion? Surely the dealer wont be able to sell him on? Really sorry for you tho, must be horrible x

to every one who has replied Thank you for your words. I am past the crying ...well i think so..maybe not but im am dealing with it and he should be going back next week when dealer is back from looking for some new a new horses. I said i would only do hand over with him for cash not cheque. Which he was fine about and my yard manager said loudly "he knows"
the old injury i previously written about was as i feared going to be ongoing. Got vet out to check and it is causing a significat prob as is an old splint hes had also. so much so he almost collapsed when vet exzamined him. Vet was suprised big time that he went through 5 stage vetting at all. For those new to this post previous injury means in this case one that occured prior to me buying horse. Nothing has happened to him in my care
I shall give better detail once he is back you never know whos reading these

I'm so sorry. What a shame.

I think you should also pursue the vet that vetted him. I'd make an official complaint with the RCVS and demand your money back from the vets themselves.

You are very lucky to get your money back, so despite everything, the dealer must be applauded. It can also be the case that dealers also have no knowledge of previous problems relating to horses they sell as they may pick them up at sales and not keep them very long before selling. Strange about him passing a 5 stage vetting though!
Although traumatic for you, it could have been worse! If you had bought him from a private seller, the result may have been a lot different
So sorry you have been through this and good luck with finding the right horse :)

im sorry but i for one will be very surprised if you get your money back
what the dealer says on phone to what will actually happen is 2 totally different things.
hes already fobbing you off till "maybe next week "
there will be somebody at dealers able to take horse back and refund surely.
i really hope im just being totally un trusting and all goes as you think it will.

I also wouldn't count your chickens...... Wait until the money is in your hand.

We will keep our fingers crossed for you though.

In the meantime report the dealer to trading standards and the vet. You might wish to make a formal complaint to the vet and to the RCVS if your vet believes that this horse should not have passed a 5* vetting.

Good luck.
