After my post last night about not being able to afford a horse on loan - and genuine thanks to all those who replied, you really helped me sort my thoughts out - a friend phoned me tonight.

She has an ex-intermediate eventer who she wants to put out on full loan cos she doesn't have the time for him - he comes with full wardrobe including Elevator bridle, two top-of-the-range Devacoux (sp?) saddles (£2,500 each apparently), all rugs, Pessoa, etc etc etc. And she is prepared to pay half of any livery costs for him each month

Needless to say, I am trying him on Sunday morning - the only problem is I am 5'2" and he is 16.2hh and long in the back, so will prob be too big for me. But hey, I can try, and who knows - and I CAN AFFORD HIM!!

I'd still prefer the lovely horse I talked about last night, but I guess I just can't be that choosy - unless they can come up with the same deal (some hope!)

That is great news!!!
Oo you're as short as i am

Hmm he may not be too big, you will only find out when you ride him youself, he may not ride as big as he looks.
Hope it all goes well for you

WOW!! How fantastic is that -what a perfect solution! just shows that you are actually destined to have a horse!! I hope that he is lovely and that you do get on with him- I am sure that it will all be just fine !! What is his eventing name?

He's registered as Breezealong - he got 19 points over the years with Andrew Bennie - I don't think he will ever be a world-beater, but who needs one for intro and PN?!

My only other concern is that he won't be as straightforward on the flat as Josh (Ikor de Kersalic) who is the one I would love - but I don't know anything until I try him, so first things first!

Thanks everyone, just can't believe this has happened, even if this one doesn't work out at least there is hope I might get another horse some time

Yes, Ikor did a couple of events with Oli Townend, then went to AV for selling - he's been there about a year now. He's just lurvley (sorry, thats the horse not AV!) and a real sweetie too, but Breeze does sound nice too

That is fantastic, I find that some things are just meant to be. Sounds like things are on the up. About your OH, If he really doesn't like horses thats ok as long as he has his own hobbies. My Oh says he hates them, but when I got home from work he had brought them in because it was raining. So it may or may not be a bit of bravado!

Thank you peeps! Have just printed off his eventing record again to remind myself

Edited to say: oh well, OK, maybe its not as good as I remembered - but that is at Novice/intermediate/1 * and there is no chance of me ever getting to do that level, I'm far to scared
