Well, to cut a long story short, i'm moving to southwell in nottingham in september to go to uni at brackenhurst. While i was up this weekend looking at yards for Rocky, I was informed that Polly Jackson lives close by. I rate her so highly as a rider and have been so impressed by her, so thought i'd email her with my riding cv (what i've done, who i've trained with, what plans are etc) and tell her im close by, and asked if she would consider training me (as don't know any trainers up there). That was Saturday night.
This morning I got a phone call from her PA person (i was expecting an email in a few months time, not a phone call 3days away!) and he said that Polly would be interested in teaching me, and that when I come up give him a ring and he will arrange for me to come down, look at the yard and watch her teach to see if I like her style, and if I do we can arrange regular training!!!!

so happy!! I know it may not seem like much to some but I have always adored Polly and to have the oppurtunity to have her as my trainer is, for me, amazing!!! Just had to share!!

Kayleigh, you lucky sod! Hope it works out well for you, certainly not a bad name to have on your CV if you work with horses

Great you have sorted a trainer for yourself before the move, with any luck you will make friends through that too and soon have a circle of horsey aquaintances near your new yard.
CCj is thinking about doing a winter at an eventing yard, but we just don't know who to contact. Emailed the Fredericks but didn't even get a reply(!)
Wiegersmas is too near to here, so anywhere from Bristol Northwards would do really.
Any ideas how to find a good place? Did you contact anyone else via your email method and get a response?
Ideally some wage even if small, as she is pretty useful having grown up with the stud and she can do most things around a yard.
I wish you the best of luck in your new yard..

Lol! youll be in very much the same neck of the woods as me, our yard is very very close to Polly's, but isnt particularly close to Brack....!! Will you have a lorry down here?

Aww thanks guys for all your responses, i wasn't expecting so many

Henryhorn - I would try the fredericks' again as I know they take on about 6 working pupils a year. I did see an advert for somebody not so long ago but I can't for the life of me remember who it was now - I'll do a bit of digging see if I can find out who it was.

KatB - Yep i've got a lorry, i'm keeping my horse in Rollestone, do you know it?

YEp know Rolleston. You'll have to come hacking with us at some stage, we're about a 15-20min box ide from there, and as I said 5 mins from PJ's! Think we'll be shaing comp venues too.....

Brill news - what a fab opportunity!
