OMG, this made me cry with laughter...MUST READ!!!!!

I am not letting my OH read that he might get some ideas then i will have to knock him back into place. It will all be very messy best leave well alone.

Sadly it is how things were in those days. We must count ourselvs lucky.
I do know someone who couldn't go to a competition with her horse on a Sunday as she had to cook her OH roast dinner. And this is only in the past few years. I felt so sad for her.

I'm going to 'prepare' myself specially and must remember to listen to him as his topics of conversation are far more important than mine and I will not question him!
He will think it's an invasion of the body-snatchers! Might be fun just to see how scared he gets - he'll be thinking I'm going all Stepford wife on him!

Mine will think he's got a "Stepford wife"....really scary stuff!!!

Mt MIL actually showed me one of these old cuttings one day, saying "put a ribbon in your hair and put on some kitten heals!"

Either she was trying to tell me something, or the OH would have thought he'd married Dick Emery!!!!

My brother (doing the Dad speech as our Dad had sadly just died) read this out at my wedding.
Needless to say, I have completely disregarded it...horse comes first, then work, then poor old OH a distant third!
But I do cook him nice meals sometimes, and iron his shirts..

"I do know someone who couldn't go to a competition with her horse on a Sunday as she had to cook her OH roast dinner"
A friend of mine, who is a seriously emancipated woman, and who has a complete darling of a husband said to me at the end of the team chase season. "Oh God, I'm going to have to cook sunday lunch again now, aren't I?"

I think it would be nice if we still had some aspects of the 1950's such as women behaving like ladies and chivalry but I think I'd get walked over if I did all this for my man.

"Be a little gay and a little more interesting for him"...... would mean something COMPLETELY different in this day and age, in more ways than one
