He's getting fitter now but blimey - he looks like he's about to pop!

Oh well, better than what I brought last July I guess.

I know - I thought he was atleast 18 when I started riding him.....vet placed him at 10-12 (but missed his blindness so didn't really believe them) and dentist said he was 8!

Wow he looks amazing!
So I have to ask the question - what did you do? Sidney looks a little like Ty when you first got him - not much bum at all.
He's held weight over winter but not really gained any so now we start working in ernest. Any tips?

Last year was mainly just hacking out and gently reschooling so that he started to build up a topline - he's got a bit more of a neck now! People at our last yard used to call him 'upside down horse!' I stuck him on haylage and linseed oil as he was a bit stiff (think that also helped the coat!) He's lost alot of muscle over the winter as I had serious problems with our school (always flooded) but moved now so hopefully that won't be a problem again.

Lots of hillwork in trot and walk when hacking helped aswell.

We also did alot of lunging and double line lunging which really helped on balance and muscling.....variation is the key I think to keep the old grey matter happy too!

Well all you've done has worked - he's lovely.
We're a tad buggered for hills around my neck of the woods but everything else we're doing so I hope sometime soon my boy might look a little more like yours!

Oh well done you, I remember when you got him vetting bless. He looks a different horse all together.

Congrats and keep up the good work.
