Ok in numerous whinging self indulgent posts I have put up here on my month from hell I have ref to all my horses becoming self harmers this month... I have just had my vet bill through the door..(well passed to me as too large to fit lol) I decided to post the incidents this month alone my horses have been up to just to prove I am completely jinxed for some reason and should go into goldfish lol....

Dezzi snapped tooth in half on his top door bolt.

Barney ripped his eye open (8 stitches, bute antib's)

Tom chronic laminitis attack (countless drugs, visits, xrays etc.)

Dezzi again cellulitis attack and found grade 4 heart murmour (bute)

Splodges galloped into tensioning cable for electric telegraph pole huge friction burns to neck and hock.. (flamezine, bute and antib's)

Aust huge stifle joint (xrays, scan and biopsy bute antib's)

Aust again allergic reaction to biopsy so back into vets for 3 days..(more drugs)

Storm tooth root abcess (in vets for xrays antib's)

Barney again ripped his jaw open (in field this time) (bute, antib's 5 staples)

Grooms pony random cough (ventpulmin)

Barney new wolf teeth pointing forward into bit seat (being removed today)

Splodges again allergy to pollen so now has acne (steriod and creams and oral treatment)

Barney again burst staples and infection gone into his jaw (xrays and inj antib's)

Oh and other heavyweight failed vetting due to eyesite!!!!!

This is all in the space of about 3 weeks, my groom needs therapy, my meds chart is bigger than my feed chart!!!!! Please note these are all completely unrealated before anyone calls the RSPCA lol

Glad you can still have a sense of humour about it!! it sounds like a if i dont laugh id cry situation?? Was the bill eye wateringly huge??

You are now due tonnes of "Good" luck, as your quota for the year has been dutifully filled!!!!

OMG, poor you. Hope your horses are ok and your string of bad luck ends very soon. Hope youve got a money tree at the end of the garden or some ink to print some notes (£50 preferably) !!!!!!!

Hic!!!!!! lol my other half wondered why I legged it past him clutching the bill shouting "move along nothing to see!!!"

im really sorry but that has just made me have a little laugh sorry i plead guilty of it, im glad you still have humour on yourside! if its any consilation in my time i have been in similar positions! my worst decision was at a show on a sunday being offered a cheque written out for £20,000 to put my horse on the lorry that day and i rejected and then the following sunday it ripping both its front tendons apart and 7 months box rest never to jump again......so technically thats a £20k loss in a week...horses......marvelous ideas? again why do we do it? oh yes the mud, rain and endless poo to pick up thats why!

Idea - what about just having a Heinz 57 cob? Mine aged 30 rides and drives and has never given me a bill other than a bit of 'bute' now and then for his arthritic hocks - allowed when you are 30 and still hacking.

Omg huni , what bad luck youve had I though my bil lwas bad the other day but am sailing compared toy yours! Id be in need for a very LARGE drink!

I can identify with your level of hysteria - I remember the vet bringing me eight huge vats of concentrated aloe vera to boost my mare's immune system after a virus and saying, "this is still going on the insurance, right?"
When the bill came I could see why - £216 for the aloe vera, and that was without two lots of 'scoping, countless other drugs and three months of bedside manner and call outs from the two senior partners

May I suggest that the cladding of all stables, fields and sharp corners with some padding material and the purchase of large amounts of bubble wrap for the horses might be cheaper!!?

indeed , next time if there ever was.....id be loading him straight on the wagon..no in all honesty he was a horse of a lifetime and i think id make the same decision agian but boy was that hard to get past! i think i would have had more than a poo picker for that! someone to shine my boots too i'd hope lol

With that many neds I presume none are insured ? Your premiums would be more than the vets bill I'm sure. I think my OH would divorce me if I had a vets bill that big. I thought paying the excess of £500 was bad enough. Fingers crossed that is the end of your run of bad luck . Expect the vets are having a lovely holiday at your expense !!

oh
my
god

that is the biggest vets bill i could imagine. i would actually die if i got that (probably from lack of food, or the hitman the vet sent after me after my inability to pay...)

poor you, i hope they all make a quick, full and cheap recovery!

xx

I used to be at orchard farm in woldingham... friends with kerry and zara....

Not even had a reply out of them yet but they usually are really good so fingers crossed not gonna claim for it all though I would be blacklisted!!

Makes my July bill seem quite friendly, perhaps I will let OH see it, then hide next months, which will have the new horses vetting and jabs & dentistry for 2!
