HRD - get her to PM me and I'll give her the numbers for the local welfare rep, or if she wants to tell me the location of the horse, I will report it!
she has gone off line. She did say she was sorting something but would not say. I've told her I know a BHs welfare officer up here who would immediately contact her local one but have not had a reply
Sorry - have I missed something here?? - FFS why aren't WHW doing anything?? I have been supporting them for many years and am at a loss to understand why they aren't involved in this.........???
I am a BHS Gold Member and have been for many years, but we cannot expect them to now handle all these new cases. Lee has been brilliant, but there are other organisations with greater funds - they should be doing more than they are.
probably because they think just one old horse is not worth bothering about on a cold friday night. It won't get them as much publicity as a whole bunch of starving, dying horses
TBH i'm getting more and more p1ssed off with the attitude of the WHW over the last few months....with their campaigns on the continent and especially here in the UK....
are they losing their bottle?...they used to be a safe bet..way over and above the RSPCA...

Totally agree with you JM. I always used to recommend WHW over RSPCA but after the 2 horses at Stamford and now this I am really losing faith in them. Yet again if they saw this lad last year and advised pts why on earth has no one from WHW visited to check if he was still there.
I, too, am fuming and very upset, but trying to think of other options. I hope BHS does something (i, too, am a gold member), + have little faith in RSPCA. Sorry if i've missed if local horse charities are moving in, as own experience is that they are very good.
On Jeremy Vine, radio 2 today, there was a discussion about a school which had a pet sheep. I didn't hear all of it, but it seems like the headteacher decided the sheep should be put down, + seemed like this was a lesson in teaching kids about where lamb comes from. (Dur?)
There was a bit of an uproar (understandably), including a call for her sacking, then dear Paul O'Grady rang in + said he'd buy the sheep! (Bless him x)
Maybe that's the message - make high profile figures aware? Then RSPCA, etc, will be embarrassed into action! Sir Terry (bless again!) has done so much for Children in Need, so maybe we could find a similar, high-profile patron for our beloved animals, who will bring things to the public's attention?
I, too, friends, would be happy to contribute to vet's fees for putting this poor horse to sleep. (Or maybe vet would do it for free, anyway?)
Bless him, let's hope his suffering helps us to help many others. BS x
PS: Apologies, fast-moving thread, missed lot, caught up now!
