OMG- you've gotta watch these vids!

please god don't think that I don't use a quick release knot as well as twine!

I do I do I do!

so why would using twine as well be a bad thing??

....because a quick release knot will not release if the rope is pulled tightly around a bit of baler twine. A quick release knot only releases when it does not get tangled around anything and has a smooth surface to glide over.

Yeah LOL!! I tie to trees too

. Mine would never dare move off - mine have been trained correctly

Never meant that it is a bad thing , it is just that not many people do that here. I have noticed alot of people do that in other places though and I suppose it has it's purpose. The only thing that I may want to point out that having a horse "break away" in a panic may not be teaching it alot for the future imo.

I would think it would make it prone to more fighting the rope if it knows it can break it when desired.

I think a bungee is good for this purpose. It "gives" but does not break free. The horse is pulled back in from the stretching contracting back.

Not sure if anyone does this there, but I have often heard of foals being taught to tie using a lead tied onto a delfated rubber intertube(sp) secured to a strong object/hitching post ( a trailer is of course not a secure object)

They can pull and pull but not get away and be pulled back in without strain or damage to the foal. Then hopefully settle down and accept being tied
Bey hey, don't listen to me ...the idiot of the vids prob knows more than I do

Really? its allways worked for me but there are different ways of tying a quick release knot , and as I said before each to their own.

lets just get on with laughing at the other stuff then.

Yeh I think this is one of the cringingley (not a word I'm sure!) worst one........

Have watched with my hand covering my mouth in......amazement/disgust/shock.......the list goes on!!

Do people volunteer themselves as "experts" for these videos or are they picked? I've never seen the site before so not sure what it exactly is.

I used to tether to twine in the UK but the blinking stuff never broke; the leather headcollars used to give before the twine!
Also a quick release knot on twine ceases to be quick release as soon as the twine and leadrope dig into each other.
If you can get the twine to break, then great

before you use the twinem, make sure a couple of the strands are already frayed a little, especially if your using new twine, older tqwine, or twine that has benn frayed a little will break easily in the event of the horse panicking.
