dont really know where i should post this but.

I went to Arena uk today just to help a friend take some pictures of a horse he wishes to sell. anyway while we were putting her back in the stable. some horses had been left on the lorry untill its there turn to be riden! then the horse at the back of the lorry fell over and was upside down it the lorry. the rider got off the horse she was on and went to help the horse and as it was panicking it kicked her in the head!

My OH works at a large equestrian centre and he is always telling me stories of horses that have been trapped under partitions and the like in horseboxes and trailers at shows there. He got told by his boss the other day to go and rescue someones horse out of a horse box on the car park. The said horse was struggling and stuck under a partition and was in a bad way, and had blood seeping out of its ears, eyes and nose (the fire brigade were on the way, the vet had already sedated it but it was still struggling due to the adrenalin) and he refused to go near it after a showjumper friend told him in no uncertain terms not to go near it as it was in serious panick mode and would have killed him. Eventually the horse managed to free itself. My OH has already been kicked and received a bone chip to his leg requiring time off work trying to help rescue someones horse from an upside down horsebox in a ditch so decided sensibly not to get involved. I do realise that if it is your horse that is stuck somewhere you tend to lose common sense and try to get involved in rescuing it, but a trapped and panicky horse is a lethal weapon as it has no common sense, and sadly a kick in the wrong place will kill. Hard as it is to watch, its always best to leave it to the experts. I can't understand why people try to load rearing or kicking horses at shows that don't wear hats either, just pure vanity and stupidity in my opinion.
