cripes, i'd love to know what make of horsebox that was. obviously no way strong enough. eek. lucky escape for horse, hope groom makes a full recovery.
10/10 to the firemen who cut the horse out of there.
Just makes you question if these boxes are ''fit for purpose''
Hope the groom makes a full recovery and well done Crawley and West Sussex Fire Service for what looked like a calm and efficient rescue.
having a horse that sometimes kicks the lorry i dont think i would want his back feet at my back, one reason i wouldnt have one of these small van types
hope the horse is ok & that the driver/groom makes a good recovery
Great people the fire and rescue, they seemed to work very well in a calm and measured way very reasuring ....it looked like the colt had got though a grooms door??? into the cab ...
Blue Vinney had a "moment" in the stalls earlier in the day and unseated his jockey according to RP prior to this incident. Wonder if he's got clostraphobia type issues?
Thanks for this - I heard there was an incident involving a horsebox on the A23 near Hickstead on my way home from work. I asked around yesterday as I only keep my horse a few miles away and know lots of people who travel this route.
Didn't realise this was what had happened though. Hope groom makes full recovery and really glad the horse is Ok - Hear Hear to our lovely fire service yet again.
Poor horse, poor groom and brave, calm, compationate firemen.
Sounds like vinney had had a bit of a day, we do sometimes expect a bit too much compliance from young horses, especially those that must be so fit and corned up to be off racing - wonder if he will have a travel companion from now on?
