As I am looking for my first job after graduating everyone keeps telling me to think about where I see myself on 5/10 years' time... all I can say to them is "oooooh I'll have a really nice horse and I'll have managed to get to at least medium BD by then..."
My entire family would quite like to disown me because of my horsey "thing"! I am very, VERY mad I think.
I am totally mad about them and they do control most of what I do, however I am aware that it is important to have a little 'me' time every now and again - but this time does depend on my plans with the beasts.
I don't spend as much time with the Big Beast as I used to but that's due to having children!!! When the kids are with grandparents for the weekend OH doesn't see me at all - it does lead to some 'discussions'.
I took one of my cats to the farm once. She had a harness & lead on. I was told then that I was quite, quite mad.
Typical day....
Start work on stud at 7:30am. Breaktime (now) on HHO. Lunchtime on HHO. Finish at 4:30pm. Cup of tea and HHO for an hour then off to do own ponio.
Back home (on stud) make tea, walk dogs, chill out then back out at 10pm for night check.
In the season, up at all hours foaling, taking mares to coverings.
I'm sooooooooooooooo horsey I even manage to bore my horsey human friends!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!
I call it a passion everyone else calls it my obsession!!!! I eat, sleep, live and breathe horses. My boss did a diagram of my brain and it was 95% horse, 3% OH and 2% shared between other stuff and work!!!!!!!
My boss also says "Your head's so full of horse there's no room for anything else!!!!"
I picked the last one. I couldn't pick I'd stop short of living with a horse as I live in the flat above the stables and can hear everything the neds do!

Would you place horses before people???
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep, sorry. I tend to like most horses and not many people.
I also find more horses like me than people do too.
I did they are a big part of my life- because they are, but so are my family and my OH and our other animals.
I would never put my horses before my family, dont get me wrong i adore my horses but my family are my family.
My OH tends to have the odd complaint when hes got a day off and i spend majority of it up the farm but we will go out for a nice meal in the evening to make up and we have 4 dogs so obviously my adoration lies there also.
Alot of the time i take the dogs up the yard with me but on days i dont we take them for big long walks up the taff trail or something and take a picnic if the weather is nice up to brecon.
I dont have any other 'hobbies' and to a point, my day is worked around them as are most peoples.
I love my horse, but I also love my non-horsey OH and want to spend time with him. I'd never turn down a holiday because I wouldn't leave my horse - that's my quality time with my OH. I also like working because that's when I get the chance to use my brain (such as it is) properly.
I even manage to have a couple of non-horsey friends!
I hope I manage to have a reasonably balanced approach, although I suspect the horse takes over sometimes.
I love my horses to bits and so does my hubby but they are not first in my life. My hubby and my baby are. The horses are very important but I would not put them above my family.
No horse is going to last anyone a life time but my little family will.
Saying that, I do wish I could spend a bit more time with them!
I chose the last one.. even when i'm not at the yard my dogs get called by the horses name, get 'clicked' at ect.. and when at home i'm looking at rugs, numnahs, being nosey at horses for sale and even thinking what im going to do with the horse the next day and of course i'm obv. always on HHO. So yes im affraid im really really really mad lol
i am really mad but i dont care
mums friends said that by the time im 15/16 i will be into boys make up etc
erm nope im into that but would never put all that before horses
i wouldnt go on holiday but mum makes me lol
i wouldnt put tabby before my family but would before friends im afraid she will never let me down
I am mad enough to own three, and to have made a living from working with horses for the past couple of decades, changing career only a couple of years ago.

Horses are my life. People say aren't you sad that all you have/do in your life revolves around horses, and don't you want to do normal things. I think they are sad for not having horses in there life, I mean what else is worth doing?
I am at the "I can take them or leave them" stage right now. In fact, I wish someone would take them. If I was single I would have packed a bag, got on the Trans Canada train and buggered off, getting off when somewhere took my fancy.....oh to be 25 again.
