The grass is very good in one the field at our yard and poor in the other. As my horses are both good doers and one can be spooky, I thought I would alternate them going on the grass every other day. Is there anything wrong with this idea? They both come in at night for a small feed and haylage.

They will just gorge themselves the days they are on there, horses were designed for gorging, ie eat while its there as winter will soon approach.

I would strip graze it if possible untill you have the whole field at a decent level.

I wouldn't. My boy is quite sensitive to sugar and is on a bare track most of the time. If I had to put him on better grass I would strip graze or use muzzle and even then it would only be for maybe 3-4 hours a day.
