Brought pony in as normal tonight then in front of us she deteriorated within 5 minutes going down and thrashing around. Got her up and tried to get her walking around the field but kept going down and was laid out with eyes closed at one point. Vet arrived and gave her two jabs she's back in her stable eating now. I'm quite shocked how quick it all happened but thankful I was there when it happened. Healing vibes for the next 24hrs please x

Oh no, everything crossed for you both, it certainly sounds promising. Like you say at least you were there, which is definitely a positive.

Oh god hugs! My girl had a bit of colic a few weeks ago. Luckily it was only mild. Poor you. Lucky you were there and acted so quickly. Thinking of you xx

Fingers firmly crossed. It's such a worrying time, isn't it. Do you have anyone to share the colic watch with you?

I've just dragged my mum down in her dressing gown, She has produced a poo, and she was talking over the stable door when we arrived so I think we are now going in the right direction ! Will be checking again in two hours on my own X Thank you all for positive messages I just can't work out what has caused it

I know this is a very worrying time and realise this is highly inappropriate but I totally just read that as your mother being the one who produced a poo :D
Im glad your pony has perked up and signs are moving in the right direction. Sending massive hugs and thinking of you OP. Ill be on here until late this evening so please feel free to PM me xxx

So glad your mum produced a poo in her dressing gown and is talking in her stable, lol, sorry, it's the relief your horse is ok, colic can be very nasty, my OH's TB died within 90 mins (heart gave out) despite vet out within 30 mins, so glad you have a happy outcome

Abby sometimes it's helps to have a "lighter" moment. Made me chuckle too!

Sounds like things are going in the right direction my friends horse is fine now, just like your pony vet was called, kept her moving etc - no explanation whatsoever as to why it happened ? So keep up hope that all will be well. It's going to be a long night for you :-( x

Got everything crossed for you, sounds like you are heading in the right direction. When mine had it i sat with her the whole night and we watched Shirley valentine on my iPod then she put her head on my lap and had a lovely snooze. Was a terrifying night yet I think bought us closer.

Just a little update: She has gone through the night great and bounced out of her stable at 5am this morning like nothing had happened phew ! thanks all for your support you made me smile x

Phew...so pleased for you. I hate colic, you just feel so helpless. Mine had colic surgery last year, very successful and you would never know from looking at him but I am always on alert! He has had one minor episode since but I knew he wasn't right for a couple of days beforehand but can't tell you why, his barrel just looked subtly different. Luckily I am now at a yard with cameras so can check on him whenever I like.
