Ok, took the horse xc schooling (ended up being 4 of ours going!)
So the confidence giver went well for older sister, enjoyed it.
Little sisters pony was fine although little sister was being a wuss.
Middle sisters mare threw a few strops but thats good as she has to learn how to deal with it, e.g at dark waters and ditches. Now, she refused the ditch first time so I did a bit of 'whats the worst that can happen' and she said 'she'll fall over' so of course I said rubbish and sent her to do it with firm instructions for a good smack if she stopped. Naturally, she did, she smacked her and kept her at it and the mare dillied and dallied and then went down, literally, onto her knees and jumped huge, a risky move to me as she looked like she was going to fall in the ditch!
So she took her back over it, and same thing again. Any idea what she is doing? The third time she didn't do it.
On the plus side the baby horse was very good. First time being ridden out of the sandschool, and he did a bank, a bank with a log on top (the 3"3 class jump), the waters. Hesitated the first time and had a lead then but went in on his own a good bit. Did all the little jumps, mostly 2"6 ish and one or two 2"9 to 3" jumps. He cantered on, had a wee nap twice and once he was told in no uncertain terms not to do it went very well and did logs, tyres, steeplechase fences, water and the steps out and over barrels. So have decided to begin advertising and see now if there's any interest. If not we'll keep him, take him to a few RC/PC shows and then sell him.
So my thoughts for advert was
to go on the internet.)
16.2hh 6yr chestnut gelding. Showing potential in all three phases. Jumping 80cm courses at home. Been xc schooled and proving bold and careful. Good to hack, shoe, box and catch. A nice looking horse with lots of potential to go on in any sphere, particularly eventing, or to make a brilliant RC/PC horse. Hasn't done an awful lot as a youngster and with a recent 5 stage vetting cert.
I have a price in mind but not sure yet if he's worth it.
He has bucked once with us, but I don't think its necessary to put that, don't want to put anything about not novice ride, but would ike some way to convey that he needs a competent rider to bring him on without putting people off! He's not all that forward going but can be bright when taken out so not 'quiet' I think?
