I am on the look for a simplistic but classy GP cut saddle cloth any advice? Im also looking for a white sheeps skin half pad
i have had a dig and i have found the premier equine wool saddle cloth is a classy look like im looking for but they aren’t two separate pieces - should i opt for the combined pad of hay the two separate pieces any advice would be amazing thank you x

A half sheepskin lined numnah is my preferred option for ease of use and stability but you may end up wanting at least two for washing etc. Sheepskin against the skin wicks sweat, you lose that with a half pad.

Totally Tacky may still be doing sheepskin underlays for Mattes (I recommend Mattes, head and shoulders above anything else and you can completely customise your colours) and I think Eskadron possibly do the same.

You can order the pad to have sheepskin trim front and back to make it look like a half pad bit make sure you've allowed the extra space as would a half pad on top, the saddle must be clear of the trims and sizing is based on the cotton but, not taking into account the sheepskin trims.

Mattes, through their normal stockists, do offer a sheepskin half pad that can go under a square etc but it's backed with cotton etc and it ends up very bulky.

Ah - I was going to jump in and say Premier Equine (smart, no bulky seams and they wash well) and then I read the whole post! I suppose it depends why you need the half pad - is it for sensitive skin or to pad out under the saddle?

The Nuumed half wool numnah is available in navy but it isn't two separate pieces.

Wool and sheepskin are a little different, Nuumed wool is shorn from the sheep and put in a knitted backing. Not a bad product but does collect horse hair in the back of the pad over the years. Sheepskin is higher performance in terms of sweat and shock absorption, but not vegetarian like wool.
