Which sales can you 'pick up' race neddies off the track, or ones who didn't quite make it? We're off to one in January (Can't for the life of me remember where it is...at least the other half knows!) just wonderd where theres others?
Thanks in advance =]

It depends entirely on what sort of horse you want, and how much you want to pay.
£1500, 4yo + - Ascot
£3000, 2/3yo, pure quality - Newmarket
£800+ 2/3/4yo - Doncaster
Plenty go through Leominster sales, but they are all hammered and need a year out just to recover.

We used to buy and sell at doncaster. You can pick up a bargain but its worth going for one of the sales that lasts over a few days and be prepared to see an awful lot of horses. I always found about the last few hours were worth sitting and waiting for as alot of the buyers had nicked off!!! Its always a good thing to have a chat with the "stable lads" but like buying anything dont believe all that is said.

would never buy one from a sale, too many injuries usually, definately recommend the travel to here:-

They know what they are doing and will find one to suit you, that also wont kill you!

Our horse that we lost last year came from Ascot as a 3yo - and was 20 when she had to be pts and definitely wasn't sick or sorry or tried to kill us - she'd flat raced twice and was too slow.

She cost £500 and I did more than her show jumping than I have done with my horses bought to do the jumping job that cost significantly more!

I jumped her up to Foxhunter level and qualified for various finals, including the Newcomer height at the Blue Chip Finals (Power/Perfomance - can't remember which) so don't write off cheap ones from Ascot.

We went back there recently and some were selling for under £1,000.
