Does anyone have a supplement they could recommend for a mare showing possible symptoms of hind gut issues. Nothing major like girthing problems or moving when you get on, but doesn't like it when you palpate the flank low down in hind gut area. Saw the Derek Knottenbelt video on Facebook and of course went straight out the next day and did the pressure test (as you do) and was very surprised at the results - serious tail swishing and picked up hind leg in a mildly threatening way and she's not ticklish or nasty. I've been through serious ulcer issues with my dear departed old girl so I am familiar with some of the processes. However, I'm not convinced this situation is any way near as bad as that. My vet has his own products that I know he will suggest I buy and I would rather not go down that route. Looking for a daily supplement I can add to feed - there are lots out there I know but has anyone found one that really works ?

Yes, I have been using it and feeding soaked oats since August last year and it has really helped.

Worth looking at what you feed as well, that can have detrimental effect on the hind gut - tbh the hind gut issues are a minefield, but succeed is a good place to start.
A succeed test is also worth doing although results can vary.

Equine Science Gastroplus-don't need it through a vet-can go to there website or Facebook page to see about it and just contact them direct.

Egusin from Forageplus, super stuff.

The thing is you will get loads of answers because certain supplements work for certain horses dependent on where they are uncomfortable.

Thanks all - as you say, there are so many products out there it's a minefield. First one I'm trying is Seabuckthorn which is apparently used by a lot of trainers in the Newmarket area (which is close to me). Will see how it goes, have just done the loading dose so don't expect to see a difference just yet.
