Does anyone know of somewhere where I can buy, or have made, a sheepskin cover to fit the Passier forward curve girth? I've looked on & off for a while, but not seen anything quite that shaped!
Dante's prone to getting the odd rub mark & being a bit sensitive when it's cold, so I was thinking of getting him a nice girth cover to use autumn-spring, to avoid the rubs he gets as he moults & to stop him getting a shock in winter when he's clipped as the leather is rather cold at first, which can't be nice!

Any suggestions? :)

you could always make your own?

Lack of time & suitable sewing abilities means I'd rather not! I actually have a relative who used to work with leather & would no doubt be able to point me in the right directions at least, but I'd rather purchase something nice & well made that's going to last than bodge something that moves or rolls, or falls appart in the wash! :p I've made bog standard straight ones from fleece in the past but this is a bit beyond my capabilities I think :o

Did you ever find anything? Thinking of buying this girth and a great fan of sheepskin after the difference it made to my mare

Hi Zoon, I didn't, but did find out that Mattes (I think! Can check emails) will make a cover to a template, but would only quote for me once I'd sent a template, which typically I didn't get around to doing. I'm having second thoughts anyway as I think since Dante has bulked up he has changed shape, and the girth doesn't fit him the same, so may end up just buying one of the Mattes shaped girths instead. I'm not entirely sure though so hoping to go to Your Horse Live tomorrow & browse, see what options are out there. He's a bit of a pest as he's very narrow through the chest, forward girth groove, big shoulders, wide on top with a decent barrel... everything seems to want to sit on his elbows now but he is so narrow underneath that most shaped girths are too wide, but he also now needs a longer girth! Girthing may now be more complicated than saddles!
